An exact date has not yet been confirmed, but the company said all affected staff have been offered alternative roles in nearby stores

Costa Coffee is set to shut one of its kiosks later this year, in the latest of a string of closures. The coffee chain will pull down the shutters on its Andover Bus Station kiosk in December.

An exact date has not yet been confirmed by Costa, but the company said all affected staff have been offered alternative roles in nearby stores. The Andover Bus Station kiosk opened in 2016.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our kiosk at Andover Bus Station will close in December this year. All team members have been offered opportunities to relocate to nearby stores.

“The local community can continue to enjoy their favourite Costa coffee at the kiosk until it closes, after which the nearest Costa Coffee store will be on Andover High Street.”

Costa has so far closed at least 20 branches nationwide in the last year. This includes its branch in Marlborough which shut on July 17, while its store in Whitstable closed on June 29 and another branch in Lyme Regis shut on April 24.

Costa has more than 2,000 branches. It comes as Costa announced the return of its Spanish Latte, which features a sweet, condensed milk-flavoured sauce, as part of its summer menu.

Costa is also introducing new Cheese Bites, which are golden, crumb-coated bites of melted cheese, served with a tangy tomato chutney, as well as High Protein Chicken Bites, which are crispy breaded chicken bites served with a smoky chipotle BBQ dip.

There is also a new Tiramisu Cookie Sandwich, a rich dark chocolate cookie sandwich filled with a tiramisu-inspired, creamy coffee frosting, finished with icing and cocoa powder.

Costa has also introduced a new Tiramisu Frappe which blends coffee with a tiramisu-inspired sauce, topped with light whip and cocoa dusting.

There is also a Tiramisu Iced Whipped Latte which features the same tiramisu-flavour sauce, topped with velvety whipped coffee.

Nishant Bhatia, Global Food and Beverage Innovation Director, said: “At Costa Coffee, we believe Summer should taste as good as it feels, and this year, we’ve taken inspiration from around the world to bring those holiday flavours a little closer to home.

“From the smooth sweetness of the Spanish Latte to the Tiramisu Cookie Sandwich inspired by the classic Italian dessert, it’s all about helping our customers taste a little bit of Summer, one sip or bite at a time.

“And for those in the mood to snack, our Barista Bites are a fun new food format for Costa Coffee – perfect for enjoying in-store or grabbing on-the-go as you make the most of those sunny days.”
