Three people were killed in a crash on the A46 between Thrussington and Sileby in Leicestershire on December 13 – two of them were mums from the local area
Two of the three people who were killed in a collision on the A46 have been named and pictured.
Neeru Patel, 42, and Bhamini Karsan, 42, both from Leicester, died after the blue BMW 5 series they were travelling in left the road between Thrussington and Sileby.
Another woman also died in the collision on December 13. Her family have asked for her name not to be released at this time.
The police were called to the incident at 1.01am, by a fourth person, who was also in the car at the time of the collision. She suffered minor injuries, LeicestershireLive reports.
The car was travelling on the citybound carriageway when it left the road in the early hours of Saturday morning. A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released from police custody under investigation while inquiries continue.
Neeru’s family said she lived a life rooted in love, compassion and quiet faith, devoted above all to her family and to caring for others. They described her gentle spirit and selfless kindness that touched many within their world.
“Though she is no longer with us, her love, her kindness, and her values live on through her two beautiful children and in the hearts of all who knew her,” they said.
Bhamini’s family said she was a loving and devoted mother, wife and daughter, remembered for her warm and bubbly personality and her kindness to others. They said she was deeply loved by her family and cherished by friends and the wider community.
“At this extremely difficult time, the family respectfully but firmly request privacy and space to grieve and ask that their wishes are fully respected by the media and the public,” they added.
DC Madeleine Hayes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said detectives had been working throughout the night and day at the scene to gather evidence. She said the car had been travelling on the A46 from Nottingham and appealed for anyone who was driving in the area who may have witnessed events leading up to the collision to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call Leicestershire Police on 101, quoting incident 35 of 13 December. People are asked to view their dashcam footage between 12.30am and 1.05am to help police with their inquiries.
