Brits jetting off for half term can use unlimited mobile data with a range of flexible data SIMs
The year has only just started but schools are already gearing up for their first half term. With this, many families will off on their first getaway as soon as school’s out around February 16.
For those keen to continue using their smartphone as they would at home, but are worried about being stung by extra roaming charges, Airlo is a lesser-known mobile brand offering a range of flexible data SIMS that allow customers to use unlimited data in more than 200 locations across the world.
This includes countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as America and Australia. Airlo’s unlimited data plans range from three to 30 days of service with prices starting at €7.50 – equal to £6.50 at time of writing, the same as roughly £2.16 per day.
Anyone embarking on a European city break to Spain, Portugal or Germany can pay €10.50 to use unlimited data for three days, which works out at €3.50 per day – or roughly £3.03. Airlo customers can easily buy, manage, and top up their eSIMs on the go with the Airalo app.
A key thing to keep in mind is that Airlo is only compatible with devices that support eSIMs. Luckily, this is a feature of many Apple, Samsung and Google phones, with a list of compatible devices found here.

Airlo offers a range of flexible data eSIMS providing unlimited data in more than 200 locations across the world.
The device must also be unlocked to any network and not jailbroken (iOS) or rooted (Android). It’s worth noting that Airlo’s unlimited data plans may include a fair usage policy that reduces the connection speed after a specified amount of data is used within a certain time period.
For anyone staying in the UK for a half-term staycation, there are plenty of SIM deals for use in the UK too, as SMARTY has just slashed its unlimited deal from £20 to £18. Each of the brand’s SIM deals run on rolling monthly plans, so customers don’t need to commit to a long-term contract.
Elsewhere, Sky Mobile has just started offering 10GB of data for £10 and 50GB for £12 per month, but this requires signing up for a 12-month minimum term. For those sticking with Airlo, the brand has earned a 3.9-star Trustpilot rating after more than 20,000 reviews.
One happy customer says: “Reliable and affordable, great service with zero issues. The activation process for Turkey was straightforward and the signal was excellent everywhere I went. Much cheaper than roaming and far less hassle than traditional SIMs.”
Another says: “Really easy to use and the tips on setting up your eSIM are a huge bonus. Very competitive pricing and huge coverage. The app is simple to use and you can easily monitor your account from it.”
Some customers have experienced poor coverage in certain countries, as this three-star review says: “Some places around the globe have very poor connectivity speed, like almost non-existent in Sri Lanka, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Otherwise, not bad.”
While this five-star review says: “Simple set up, been running for two weeks with no issues around India. would be totally stuck without our eSIM.”
