The Tubing Mascara and Lash Serum are beauty writer Eve Rowlands’ holy grail products for ensuring lashes look lengthy, healthy and strong – especially in summer
When the heatwave hits, the last thing we want to be doing is wearing makeup. But sometimes, needs must and for a fancy dinner, work meeting or simply to help make yourself feel a little bit better as you melt into a puddle, popping on a bit of mascara can make a world of difference – confidence-wise. Even better when it makes our lashes visibly thicker, longer and healthier.
Although one issue many of us face when the temperatures soar is that our mascara melts onto our under eyes as we glisten (ahem, with sweat). On top of that, during the summer our lashes can get brittle and fall out more thanks to due to intense UV rays, heat and increased sweat and sebum clogging hair follicles and making them weak. But one brand has been my saviour in that regard not only hindering fallout, but providing a mascara that actually stays put – and doesn’t leave me looking like a panda – when the heatwave hits.
I am talking about UKLASH. In particular its £39 Lash Growth Serum and £16 Tubing Mascara, which I’ve been using for a good few months now and have genuinely blown my mind with the results. Plus, shoppers can currently get 10% off for a limited time with our exclusive code REACH10, making the serum £35.10 and the mascara £14.40.
Starting with the serum – because everyone deserves a good lash base – the award-winning UKLASH Lash Growth Serum has been developed to help nourish, condition and stimulate the eyelash follicles for optimum growth, resulting in longer-looking, healthier and fuller lashes. While I’ve personally not seen majorly Bambi-style length (as some users have noted), I have noticed my lashes appear a smidge more lengthy, particularly when wearing mascara.
That’s not all as, one great by-product of the serum is that my lashes haven’t seen quite as much fall out as before I started using the serum. For those of us who experience sparse lashes, gaps and more – especially when the heatwaves come around – we know this small but mighty issue doesn’t do the best for our confidence. So it’s nice to rub my eyes and not have 7+ lashes come out all at once.

The UKLAH Tubing Mascara is made with lash-wrapping polymers.
I’m not the only one who’s experienced this, as one five star review shared my thoughts and said: “I always have had sort of long lashes but my lashes have always been prone to falling out due to stress and lash lifts so they have always not been full and sparse. But ever since I have been using this serum it has transformed my lashes making them fuller so much stronger and way longer it’s honestly incredible. 1000% recommend.”
It’s important to note that I have been using the prostaglandin formula, which has been known to cause skin hyperpigmentation under the eyes, resulting in hollow, dark circles. So keep that in mind – although this isn’t something I’ve noticed massively. That might be due to the fact that I don’t use it every day.
For those wanting to avoid this particular ingredient, the brand also has a Sensitive Lash Growth Serum, which is prostaglandin-free. Similarly Glow For It is another brand offering a prostaglandin-free Lash Serum whose results have left shoppers in awe. It’s also a little cheaper at £29.99.
As for the Tubing Mascara, it’s staying power has seriously left me impressed and has blown my other fave mascaras out the water for summer wear. Firstly, when it’s not hotter than the sun, it lasts all day long with no flaking, smudging or drooping.
But when it’s hot, it comes into its own. Expecting to need to touch up my eyes after a few hours when wearing the mascara, I was pleasantly surprised when my under eyes were clear of any flaking and smudged product. Putting it to the test even further, I wore the mascara during a gruelling workout (after eight hours of work too) in which I was a bit of a sweaty mess and it clung on tight. Honestly, it was miraculous that it stayed put.
The secret in this sweat-proof formula is lash-wrapping polymers. These waterproof polymers, as UKLASH explains, ‘create tiny, flexible tubes around each lash, helping resist sweat, tears and everyday moisture for long-lasting wear’. Activated by heat and pressure, taking it off is easy and requires warm water and a little bit of pressure, which allows the mascara to slide off.
It comes in two shades, black and Mocha brown, and is enriched with Arginine and Shea Butter to nourish the lashes with every wear. My lashes always look curled, lifted and long when I put on this mascara, too, which is great.
While I’ve not personally had any issues with the formula, tapered brush (which is great for tackling all lashes, inner and outer) or colour payoff, a few users found the formula to be a little ‘clumpy’ and one said: “Very wet formula and clumps lashes together if not done done carefully and sparingly, but does make my lashes look very long.”
Another mascara I love is Sky High from Maybelline and while I haven’t personally tested out its waterproof formula, the Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Waterproof Mascara, £12.99, it reportedly ‘doesn’t smudge, run or go clumpy’. And if its original formula is anything to go by (read my review of that here), I’m sure this one also won’t disappoint.
Although for the most part, the majority of users were buzzing with the results from the UKLash Tubing Mascara, with one person citing: “After many years searching for the right mascara that don’t drop leaving black marks under the eyes this was the one. Not only does it last all day and more, it makes eyelashes look fuller and longer. I won’t be looking back, this is the only mascara for me.”
Another added: “Used this on holiday, it stayed out through sun, sea, sweat & swimming without smearing. Looks very natural, doesn’t clog on your lashes & really emphasises them I love it. So easy to wash off too with warm soapy water.”
