‘A lovely chunky book at a good price. Can’t wait to curl up and get festive’
The Works has officially launched its biggest ever Black Friday event and book lovers are in for a treat. Throughout November, shoppers can find incredible value in store, with deals designed to help families stock up for Christmas without breaking the bank.
Running from November 3 to 20, the first wave of offers focuses on ‘Books for Everyone,’ with unbeatable prices across children’s and adult titles. Parents and teachers can pick up 10 picture storybooks for just £10, that’s only 83p per book – perfect for festive gifting, classroom rewards, or bedtime stories.
Meanwhile, fans of adult fiction can enjoy four bestselling titles for £7.50, working out as less than £1.90 per read, with authors including Freida McFadden and Elsie Silver among the mix. More deals will follow later in the month, including Christmas gifts and activity sets from November 21 to December 1, so shoppers are encouraged to visit stores regularly to make the most of new drops and seasonal savings.
Among those available from the Fiction and Non-Fiction Books is Freida McFadden’s Do Not Disturb, which has been rated a high 4.7 out of 5 stars. This is described as a ‘twisty, psychological thriller like no other’, as it is a story of secrets that will keep readers on their toes to the end.
McFadden’s Surrogate Mother, Ward D and Never Lie are also on there. For something festive, Sarah Morgan’s The Christmas Cottage is also available along with Cressida McLaughlin’s The Secret Christmas Bookshop and Alexandra Benedict’s The Christmas Jigsaw Murders, meaning there is an option for everyone.

The books from The Works have been rated highly, however, as one person said about The Secret Christmas Bookshop: “A lovely chunky book at a good price. Can’t wait to curl up and get festive.” Another said: “First Christmas book of the year. Thoroughly enjoyed it especially the parts re the arts and crafts and the animals. I even shed a few tears at the end. Really good characters and a lovely story line.”
However, some people deducted stars after having trouble logging into the website properly, so for best results shoppers can head to a The Works store.
However, overall most people were pleased, as another shopper said: “Good quality, beautiful books. Great Christmas present.”
