The research also explored how EV drivers feel about home charging after switching, with 81% finding it easier than expected and almost all (98%) saying it quickly became part of their routine
It’s always been the little things that count – and they may have a bigger impact on your life than you realise.
New research has revealed that an unexpected compliment can turn the day around for 84% of Brits, with 80% saying small, regular rewards make a bigger difference than big one-offs.
Praise from strangers was the best mood booster (44%), while finally finishing something you’ve been putting off came in second (40%), according to the research by electric vehicle (EV) charging provider Pod. Over a third was receiving an unexpected freebie or discount (39%).
The study also found that 69% of Brits think every day routines would feel more satisfying if they came with a reward.
In fact, 75% would welcome more rewards for the tasks they already do from cleaning the house (40%), cooking the evening meal (30%), taking out the bins (21%) and keeping the car fuelled and ready for the next day (14%).
Pod already rewards its customers for everyday tasks through Pod Rewards, which pays them for smart charging their EV overnight.
To bring the findings to life and boost moods, Pod sent comedian and internet personality Troy Hawke to praise people using an EV charger at home in his signature suave style.
“It was a genuine joy surprising Pod customers on a beautiful day in the Southeast of England and reminding them what a wonderful and practical decision they made. It’s lovely celebrating people for any reason, why not for switching to home EV charging!” he said.
The research also explored how EV drivers feel about home charging after switching, with 81% finding it easier than expected and almost all (98%) saying it quickly became part of their routine.
Melanie Lane, CEO of Pod, added: “We want electric living to feel simple; giving people confidence that they have made a choice that feels easy, more affordable and rewarding.
“Pod Rewards is not just about the cash customers earn for smart charging; it’s also about the feeling that comes from trusting their decision and seeing that choice pay off every day. Bringing Troy to customers’ doorsteps was our way of celebrating drivers who have made the switch and found that a simple everyday routine can be unexpectedly rewarding.”
