Shop Home Styles helps shoppers find and buy the perfect furniture pieces by uploading a picture depicting their interior inspiration
Interior design buffs will know all too well the frustration that comes with seeing a gorgeous piece of furniture on the likes of Instagram or Pinterest and being unable to find it in the real world – despite channelling our inner Sherlock Holmes. This transforms a typically fun task into one filled with annoyance.
But one website is being praised for making things a little easier on this front with its AI tool that helps users find that dream piece with a simple photo. Shop Home Styles, backed by Fuel Ventures, leverages AI to eliminate the hassle of keyword searches in an attempt to find the desired product.
Users can simply upload any image to the website – from Pinterest saves and Instagram posts to camera roll photos and mood boards – to find and buy the perfect furniture pieces right away. The platform’s AI works by analysing the uploaded image, breaking it down by shape, material, colour, and texture to pinpoint the best matches, visually.
It helps users skip the guesswork of typing ‘green modular sofa’ or ‘wiggle lamp’ and hoping for the best. Instead, shoppers start with their exact design inspiration and get served genuine matches.
Shop Home Styles collates products from over 100 furniture and homeware brands across both the UK and US, allowing users to effortlessly compare multiple retailers in one spot. Speaking about the inspiration behind the platform, the website’s founder Giedre Gabrenaite explained: “Consumers don’t struggle because there aren’t enough furniture options online. They struggle because finding the right one is still far too difficult.

The website Shop Home Styles is a revolutionary furniture discovery platform that uses pictures and AI to help users find their dream home pieces.
“We built ShopHomeStyles to close the gap between inspiration and purchase, helping people discover the products they actually want, not just the products that happen to rank highest in search results.”
Having tried it out myself – as a keen home decor lover – it’s incredibly easy to use and the results it comes up with are very good. Brands include the likes of Anthropologie, Wilko, Furniture123, Emma, Ruggable, Wolf & Badger, Living and Home, Secret Linen, Vonhaus, Dunelm, Marks and Spencer and more.
The search engine provides similar products to those included in the photo uploaded and offers some great inspiration for slightly different design aspects. No home buy is too small or big either, it seems. The website helps home design fiends find mugs – like this from mint design from Fenwick – tableware, coasters like this Graham and Green Pablo Set of Four Round beaded Coasters, cushions like this Square Cushion Nova Design from Heal’s, cutlery, kitchen storage bottles and more.
For bigger items, the platform gives a range of options for all rooms in the house, like this Dunelm 3-Seater Sofa with Buttoned Back – Green, the Choice Furniture Superstore Art Deco King Size Bed Frame in Blush Pink and the Graham and Green Black Ikat Pouffe.
For example, I have been on the hunt for an alternative option for my dream Oliver Bonas bedspread with its velvet finish, bright colours and premium feel. It costs £165 at RRP and is a purchase I can’t justify just yet.
Inputting an inspo pic I found on Pinterest of the exact bedspread, ShopHomesStyles found me a range of options that both exceeded this cost – the beautiful Iluka Printed Quilted Bedspread from Anthropologie, £148; the Glassette Stella Quilted 100% Cotton Bedspread from Secret Linen, £149 (although now on sale for £119.20) – and was more affordable. Such as this Catherine Lansfield Autumn Patchwork Geometric Bedspread from Dunelm, which costs £35 and features a similar geometric pattern with green and orange colourful accents.
It also pointed me to Anthrolopologie’s gorgeous £78 Two-Way Printed Quilted Throw Blanket, which has a fun checkered patterned with blue, pink, green and cream hues decorating it.
The website also allows its users to – once the image has been input – to control the results by choosing brands, the price limit and colourways. Although, one improvement personally is, I’d welcome a few more affordable UK-based brand options, as opposed to more premium, luxury brands. Names like Oliver Bonas, H&M Home, Piglet In Bed, Dusk, Habitat, La Redoute – to name just a few – would be lovely. But that’s if I’m being nit-picky.
For shoppers who haven’t got a photo inspiration pic in mind, the ShopHomeStyles site also has the option for users to simply browse their products. It ranges in category from room to particular pieces like lights, snuggle chairs, bedspreads and more. This is similar to the likes of Wayfair, which – alongside its own brand pieces – offers products from brands like B&M, Bedsure, Simba, Ninja, Le Creuset, Furniture Box and more.
Once users have found their dream furniture piece on Shop Home Styles, they can then be redirected to brand’s website where they can checkout and revel in the joy of this purcahse.
