A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the incident at the Tata Steel site remains ongoing.

They said: “At 8.06pm on Wednesday, 3rd June, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Port Talbot, Neath, Morriston, Glynneath, Swansea West, Cymmer, Swansea Central, Pontardulais, Llanelli, Carmarthen, Ammanford, Gorseinon, Pontyates, Kidwelly, Haverfordwest and Milford Haven Fire Station were called to an incident at TATA Steel, Port Talbot Steelworks.

“This incident is currently ongoing, supported by colleagues from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

“The area should be avoided while the incident is ongoing to allow access for emergency services and local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed if there is smoke in the area.”
