The Food Standards Agency has issued a number of urgent recall notices this week

Several urgent food recall notices have been issued this week, with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warning shoppers about items stocked across a number of supermarkets.

While some products must be returned by all customers, others will only affect those with allergies. Reasons for the recalls range from metal and plastic contamination to Salmonella concerns, all of which pose a potential risk to health.

Anyone affected should return the item to the store where it was purchased as soon as possible to claim a full refund.

Exceptional by ASDA Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes

  • Pack size: 290g
  • Best before: May 1, May 2, May 3, May 4, May 5

ASDA has issued a recall for the Exceptional by ASDA Beer Battered Cod Fishcakes due to possible contamination with plastic or metal fragments, rendering it unsafe to consume.

The FSA advise: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest ASDA store for a full refund. For further information, please contact ASDA’s customer relations team on 0330 053 0111.”

Goodlife Spicy Bean Burger (4 pack)

  • Batch codes: L6030 and L6031
  • Best before: July 28 2027

The Goodlife Spicy Bean Burger, sold at Waitrose and various online health retailers, is being recalled owing to potential plastic contamination, making it unsafe to eat.

The burger should be taken back to the original place of purchase for a full refund, with no receipt required.

HiPP Organic 7+ months Vegetable Lasagne jar

  • Pack size: 190g
  • Batch code: B49311
  • Best before: January 31 2027

HiPP Organic UK is recalling its 7+ months Vegetable Lasagne 190g jar as it contains celeriac (celery), which is not disclosed on the label.

HiPP Organic say: “If you have bought the product and your baby is allergic to celeriac, please do not feed it to them and contact us for a reimbursement.”

Good4U Super Sprouts Super Greens

  • Pack size: 60g
  • Best before: All use by dates up to and including May 3 2026

Good4U is recalling Super Sprouts Super Greens due to the potential presence of Salmonella.

The FSA advise: “Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

“If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours to avoid passing it on to others.”

Anyone who has purchased the product should not consume it and should return it to the store for a full refund.
