The discount retailer is stocking a ‘sophisticated’ product that resembles a pricier design
B&M shoppers could save money by choosing a ‘stylish’ £10 scallop shade from the retailer over a pricier alternative. Known for selling homeware and accessories, the bargain chain could have just the thing for interior design fans.
The high street store is selling a £10 Cream Joy Scallop Shade that arguably resembles Exclusive Lighting Ltd’s Trixie Cream Shade. However, B&M’s offering is significantly cheaper at £10. The Trixie Cream Shade is available in four sizes, which typically sell for £40-£70; the shades are currently on sale, lowering the price range to £36-£70.
For shoppers looking for a ‘stylish’ lamp shade, either option might be tempting. Both designers have opted to upgrade the look of a traditional lamp shade by creating a scallop shape that resembles a flower. The shades are also offered in cream colours, though they are not identical.
There will also be differences in design and fabric, as well as price differences. As such, customers may favour one design over the other. Shoppers comparing the two designs might like to browse the product descriptions and images shared by both retailers.
Showcasing the B&M lamp, the retailer said: “Bring simple style to your home décor with this Cream Joy Scallop Shade. A modern and sophisticated piece to enhance any space.” The lamp shade is available to purchase in stores now, but B&M says stock is low.
Showcasing the Trixie Cream Shade, the retailer said: “Trixie is a beautiful cylindrical scalloped shade finished in an open weave cream cotton. This luxurious heavyweight material shade is the perfect addition to a simple base, allowing the shape of the shade to shine and can also be used on ceilings. Available in a 12″, 14″, 16″ & 18″ size.” The lamp shade is available to purchase online now.
For shoppers looking for something different, most homeware retailers stock decorative lamp shades. At Home Bargains, for instance, options include the £4.99 Home Collections Rope Shade and the £4.99 Home Collections Rafi Shade.
Shoppers with a neutral interior design theme might prefer the rafi shade. The product description says: “The primary functions of a shade is to diffuse and soften the light emitted by the lamp.
“This helps create a more ambient and pleasant lighting atmosphere, reducing harsh glare. It can add a decorative touch to the lamp and contribute to the visual appeal of the space.” Meanwhile, the rope shade might impress shoppers looking for ‘rustic’ lighting.
The description says: “Brighten up your space with the Home Collections Rope Shade, a charming blend of rustic and nautical vibes! Crafted from strands of rope, this lamp adds warmth and a unique tactile touch to any room.”
