Dunelm’s throw has gained hundreds of positive reviews from shoppers who’ve used the gadget rather than touching their heating thermostat in cold weather

With the energy price cap increasing for 2026 and the Met Office warning of a cold snap incoming across much of the country this weekend, many of us are looking at ways to stay warm without turning the heating up and seeing our bills rise. Shoppers looking for a gadget to stay warm as the temperatures drop have been turning to a Dunelm cosy heated throw which, with a clever money saving hack, can see them effectively save 47% on the usual price.

Dunelm’s fleece electric throw comes in two colours, navy and a pale taupe brown, and is a regular bestseller for the homewares brand, even outside of their huge winter sale. Currently priced at £32 in both hues, savvy shoppers can get one for £17 using a deal stack.

Money saving website TopCashback gives all new members a free £15 sign up bonus when they make a qualifying spend with one the thousands of brands they work with, including Dunelm. This means shoppers who sign up to TopCashback and then make their first purchase at Dunelm to buy the heated throw will effectively get it for £16.44 after the bonus and cashback has been paid, while existing Dunelm customers who sign up to TopCashback for the first time will get it for £16.72.

Money saving expert Martin Lewis regularly highlights the benefit of ‘heating the person, not the entire house’ to help keep bills down. In recent years this advice has seen many of us turn to Oodies to keep warm at home, but increasingly warming gadgets like heated throws and electric blankets have helped take the chill off when the weather gets especially cold, all without turning up the thermostat.

Brands like Morphy Richards and Lakeland have some hugely popular plush and premium options available, with some hefty discounts already available thanks to their winter sales. Lakeland’s cheapest heated throw is reduced by 25% down to £29.99 in a taupe colour, while other more plush options like this faux fur one is reduced from £79.99 to £59.99.

Meanwhile, this winter Morphy Richards has branched out from the kitchen into a wide range of heated throws in a variety of colours, thicknesses and sizes with savings of up to 14%. After using a Lakeland throw for five years, I replaced it this winter with the Morphy Richards EverCosy fleece in green, which is currently 14% off.

I swear by it for everything – ranging from working from home during the day when I’m the only person in and don’t want to put the heating on when the timed heating has gone off but I want to be cosy finishing a final episode of my latest binge watch. Of all the heated throws currently available, in and out of sales, Dunelm’s fleece one is however remains one the cheapest and best reviewed having won hundreds of fans and garnering an average of 4.5 stars out of 5 based on 246 reviews on the site.

It comes with six heat level settings and is fully machine washable with shoppers able to remove the electric controls and plug as needed. The 100W blanket works out at 3p an hour to run using the January 2026 energy price cap figures for electricity and the online calculator Sust-it, making it considerably cheaper than putting on a heating boost in most houses.

One five star reviewer praised it as being ‘perfect’ as well as being ‘very warm, even on low.’ They added: “This is the best thing I’ve ever bought. I didn’t put the fire on last night as I was so toasty on the sofa. The cat is loving it too.”

Another praised the gadget for being ‘great value and so warm,’ adding: “I’m always cold and this is a great way to keep warm without increasing the heating in the whole house, so keeping the bills low. Also my cat loves it and jumps straight on when I put it on. Very happy.”

Pets looking for some additional warmth were a recurring theme with reviewers, with the throw proving as big a heat with four-legged friends as their humans – another added: “”Very snuggly and heats up quickly. Big enough for two on settee over knees. Cat loves it.”

Another shopper described it as ‘one of their best buys’: “So soft, warm, and cosy, it heats up fast and feels amazing to snuggle under. The fleece is great quality, and the heat settings make it easy to get the perfect warmth. I use it instead of the heating most nights or when I’m sat at my desk working, honestly one of my best buys.”

However, one three star reviewer said: “Not the warmest electric throw I’ve had but adequate. Nice fleece material. Easy use control. Able to disconnect the throw from controls for washing. Fair price for acceptable quality.”
