Packed with Dolby Vision tech, this TV looks great when streaming the latest movies
With streaming services adding more content, there’s no better time to buy a new telly – with this discounted model offering all the latest tech at a great price.
Hisense has been shaking up the market, driving prices down while giving buyers access to Dolby Vision and Freely. Not only will your content look great, but with this TV, you don’t even need a television aerial to watch live TV from the BBC or ITV.
This 55-inch Hisense is now on sale for £289 at Amazon. Prices have been falling since late 2024, but it’s now at the lowest price it’s been – and customers praise the quality of the picture on this TV.

The 55-inch Hisense A6N is a full array LED TV, meaning that the light source is across the full picture for optimal visuals. It supports Dolby Vision, giving you dramatic HDR effects, so shows like Bridgerton or The Grey Man on Netflix look sensational. It’s also 4K, so you’ll get detailed images too.
But one of the great things about this TV is that it supports Freely. That’s the latest TV tech that means you can get terrestrial broadcasts without the need for a roof aerial. Instead of plugging it in, you just have to connect your TV to the Wi-Fi and you’ll stream all that goodness from BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5, direct to your TV – a well known perk to rivals Sky on its Essential TV plan which includes Sky Stream.
Hisense 55-inch A6N 4K HDR TV
This Hisense TV offers 4K HDR quality and Freely to stream broadcast television. It’s available in a range of sizes.
That means that you don’t have to have that pesky aerial socket in your room, so if you want to put this TV in your kitchen extension, for example, you can still watch whatever you want. You’ll need to have good Wi-Fi in your home, of course, but that’s easier than having a new roof aerial fitted.
That all sounds great, but on a TV at this price there will be some shortcomings: it’s a 60Hz TV, so there’s no support for the latest frame rates that you’ll get from the PS5 or the Xbox. While the picture is said to be good, the brightness only reaches 300 nits, so it’s not the brightest TV out there. That means it might struggle in brighter rooms, but when the curtains are drawn and you settle down for movie night, you’ll still have a great experience.
You don’t have to buy this TV from Amazon, it’s also available from Very for £299. This discounted Hisense telly also isn’t the only discounted TV out there at the moment. There’s also £130 off the Amazon Fire TV 4-Series right now, so it’s only £369.99 for the 55-inch model.
The Hisense TV sound is pretty average too, with a pair of 10W speakers, so you’d be better pairing it with a soundbar to really bring the action on screen to life. The weaker sound has been picked up by buyers, saying “very good resolution and colour but the sound isn’t the best but it’s good,” although most just praise the good picture quality: “It’s great to have a nice big screen with good resolution.”
Some buyers noted that the TV arrived in “eco” mode and that the picture performance was better when this was turned off. The power-saving option is an EU requirement and that’s common on many TVs: often switching to the “standard” picture option will allow the screen to use higher brightness and deliver a better picture.
