Coco & Eve is renowned for its miracle-working products that transform dull and lifeless hair into hydrated and damage-free locks – and the brand’s newest launch is no different
Cosmetic brand Coco & Eve, which went viral some years ago for its Like A Virgin hair mask, has launched a clarifying and detoxing shampoo that has left both curly and straight-haired shoppers in awe.
Aimed at hair that is dull, frizzing and prone to breakage as a result of hard water use in your daily shower, the Like a Virgin, Clarifying Detox Shampoo (£23) claims to remove up to 150% more iron and copper ions that regular shampoo formulas and deeply cleanses to leave your scalp free of product buildup, minerals and metals, excess oil and impurities from environmental stressors and neutralises the pH levels.
Promising to leave all hair types and colours in a better condition, the shampoo – which is not recommended as a “special treat for your hair” once or twice a week- uses chelating technology that is a “unique blend of three chelating agents; sodium gluconate, tetrasodium lutamate diacetate and phytic acid.
“This technology effectively removes heavy minerals and metals from tap water, preventing hair dryness and eliminating impurities that cause dullness to hair”. It’s been proven to help reduce those pesky dandruff flakes on your scalp, leaving your hair glowing and looking less like you’ve travelled through a snowstorm.
Alongside this ingredient, Coco & Eve incorporates a whole load of gorgeous natural products to leave your hair silky smooth and the picture of scalp health. Lemon peel extract acts to provide moisture and protection from free radicals alongside encouraging scalp barrier regeneration, while the hibiscus vinegar leaves your hair with a mirror-shine thanks to its rich antioxidant count and detoxifies the scalp by “regulating sebum productionand improving overall scalp health”. The use of coconut water – a known power ingredient for hydration – gives the hair a good glug of essential minerals and moisture.
Sharing the launch on its social media, Coco & Eve – which last year launched its first skincare products – posted an image of the newest member of its haircare family, saying: “It’s here… hit REFRESH on your haircare (root)ine with our NEW Clarifying Detox Shampoo! Deeply Cleanses; Chelating Technology for hard water; Maintain pH balance; Revitalises hair; Antioxidant Bali Botanicals; Colour-safe, non-stripping, non-irritating and biodegradable.”
Shortly after this new product was revealed, beauty fans flocked to the brand’s comments section and the website to share their experience of this new shampoo – and it seems its reputation is as glowing as they promise your hair to be.
One said: “Best detox shampoo I’ve used.”
Another, who left the new shampoo a five star review, added: “As a curly hair girl, one must-have in my routine is a detox shampoo to get rid of all the product build-up. The results speak from themselves when it comes to Coco & Eve’s Clarifying Detox Shampoo. It leaves my scalp clean, my hair shine and helps my styling products perform better!”
A third stated: “My scalp has been suffering lately and I’ve found it to be extremely dry and flaky at times! The difference this detox shampoo made to my scalp was HUGE, leaving it clean & clear from product and flakes. I’ll most definitely be using this more regularly!”
With ingredients like SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and sodium chloride (salt), some beauty buffs were worried it would strip their hair of its colour but Coco & Eve assured them: “Our Clarifying Detox Shampoo has the right concentration of sulfate just to help make cleaning effectively better specially for product buildup – you can breathe easy knowing that your coloured hair is safe with its use.”
Another byproduct of this shampoo is that it can transform brassy toned hair – caused by hard water – into a refreshingly bright, shiny shade once again. However, if £23 is a smidge out of your price range or you’re new to clarifying shampoo and want to try out something a bit cheaper first, Ouai’s five-star Detox Shampoo is £12 for an 89ml bottle on LookFantastic while Noughty’s Detox Dynamo Clarifying Shampoo is £7.99 at Boots.
