Shocking video footage of two teenagers clinging onto the back of a bus before it drives onto a busy main road, has been released.
A member of the public filmed the Bee Network bus near the Trafford Centre, in Manchester, yesterday. The teenagers – both dressed in black coats – had climbed onto the back of a 52 service which travels from Failsworth to Trafford. It was reported they held on until for 60 seconds before letting go.
The two boys are alleged to have climbed onto the back of the bus at the roundabout before it drove away. A third boy can be seen in the video running away from the bus.
The person who recorded them – who does not want to be named – said: “Three boys were waiting at the roundabout for a bus to stop, then jumped on the back. They kept slipping off at first but two managed to hold on.
“They went round the roundabout and were still clinging on when we passed them towards the Trafford centre. They hung on for ages. There was another bus behind and was beeping trying to get the driver’s attention so he would stop.”
Yesterday, Transport for Greater Manchester blasted the boys actions branding them as “incredibly dangerous”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
A spokesman said: “This is incredibly dangerous behaviour which could have catastrophic consequences. It’s also a criminal offence. We’d urge all parents and guardians to speak to their children about the dangers of this kind of behaviour.
“Not only are these young people taking their own lives in their hands, but they will also face very real consequences if they are caught.”
