The L’OR Barista Sublime by Philips coffee machine has an overall star rating of 4.9 and is loved for its smooth coffee and compact design – and it’s currently on sale with 100 free coffee pods

Coffee connoisseurs in the market for a sparkling new machine can save almost £100 in a spring time deal from espresso experts L’OR. Plus, if you’re someone who can’t deal with the faff of dialling in the right coffee amount, tamping it down before setting about making your perfect coffee-shop-style coffee at home, the deal also includes 100 coffee capsules to pop straight into the machine, saving heaps of time—and effort—in the morning.

The L’OR Barista Sublime, which comes in a handful of different colours including Satin Blanc, Piano Noir and Sunset Rubis, has the capacity to make single and double espressos in one sitting and usually retails (with the 100 pods included) at £151.97. But in the brand’s latest deal, the set can be snagged for £64.99, saving £87.

This price beats the current offer at the likes of Amazon, whose price for the same bargain is £129.30, while the coffee machine alone is on sale for £83.99 at Philips.

‘Perfect in every way’ Dyson hairdryer that’s ‘lightweight and powerful’ gets axed by £100

With a compact design, the L’OR coffee machine is great for smaller kitchens as it won’t take up too much space on your work surfaces (measuring 157 x 402 x 276 mm). Plus, with a sleek style and attractive colours, it’s not exactly a garish piece of equipment and won’t ruin your space’s aesthetic.

As for the coffee, the machine can generate up to 19 bars of pressure (ie the level of pressure passing through the coffee beans) for the perfect espresso. With the machine working via coffee pods, the L’OR device is compatible with a whole host of pod brands such as Nespresso, so you don’t have to commit to L’OR after bagging the deal.

With the option to make a handful of different coffee styles, the capsules give you and your guests the choice of the likes of a double ristretto, decaf espressos, espresso surpremos and more.

Great for the black coffee drinkers amongst us, the machine doesn’t come with a milk frother attachment so it’s best, if you enjoy a latte or cappuccino, to treat yourself to a frother – like this Panana option from Amazon for £18.99. Alternatively, L’OR has a deal that includes the coffee machine, pods and a milk frother for £89.99 instead of £221.96.

The coffee machine itself has garnered an impressive 4.9-star rating from fans, who love how ‘easy to use’ it is.

One happy customer left a five star review on the L’OR website and said: “A lovely styled and well finished coffee pod machine that will take both sizes of coffee pods. Very pleased with my purchase which included additional capsules.”

“What a fantastic machine,” said another. “Paired it with an amazing milk frother – and now the high street coffee boys are wondering what’s happened to me. The coffee is just as good, too – loving the double-size pods for a BIG mug of hot, milky, frothy coffee. Thank you.”

A third remarked: “Coffee machine and pods are fantastic and work perfectly. Coffee has nice flavours and is very aromatic.”

Although, for some people, the limit for the maximum cup height proved a little tricky. With the max cup height being 100mm, one shopper said: “Great machine – just wish the platform below the nozzles was lower to allow a full-sized mug to fit. It does if you take off the filter platform.”

Another found the removal of the water tank at the back of the machine awkward. They said: “Love being able to select the different strengths to my taste and the coffee is excellent. However as I have overhead cupboards I have to pull the machine out to remove the water container and lift up the pod container which is quite big. This is slightly frustrating for me however overall it is good value.”

Although for the most part, shoppers were pleased with the coffee machine. It’s on sale at L’OR for £64.99 here.

If Nespresso is more your bag, when it comes to coffee machines, Amazon is holding a limited-time offer that reduces the Citiz Coffee Pod Machine by 21%, meaning it’s currently costing £138.98.

Wanting to spend a little more on a high-tech option that is bean-to-cup (ie no pods) and has a built-in milk frother, the SIEMENS TP713GB9 EQ700 Smart Bean to Cup Coffee Machine is on sale at Curry’s for £649 from £1299. Meanwhile, BREVILLE’S One-Touch CoffeeHouse II VCF147 Coffee Machine is £169.99 from £349.99.

Another recommendation from us is the relatively new Ninja Luxe Cafe Premier Espresso Machine, however it is not currently on sale. It’s had the seal of approval from one of our team, Ruth, who recently ditched buying takeout coffee in favour of this high-end espresso maker -read all about that here.
