While all eyes have been on Apple’s new iPhone 16 range, Samsung has launched a new S24 phone and it’s handing out its new FE smartwatch for free to celebrate – here’s how to get one

If you’ve been on the lookout for a new smartphone then you may want to add one of Samsung’s S24 models to your list, as it gets a whole cheaper to buy. As the newest S24 FE model launches quietly to its site.

No, it’s not a new S24, S24+, or S24 Ultra deal, although Sky’s current deal has caught our eye too, but a swanky new edition – the Galaxy FE has been launched to offer shoppers the best of its smartphone without the high-end price. Plus, anyone who adds the £649 128GB model to their cart will walk away with a £199 Watch FE for free.

Shoppers will be able to walk into UK stores and buy the new S24 FE device this week, Friday, October 4, but Samsung’s early online deal has many keen consumers’ attention. Not only is it offering a free smartwatch (the budget model) but those with an older phone can cut a further £350 off when they trade-in.

If you’ve not heard of its trade-in deal before, this essentially means anyone with an old phone – be it a Samsung model or not – will get a cheaper price if they hand it over as they buy the Galaxy S24 FE. Currently, the minimum shoppers can get off is £50 but it does go all the way up to £340 – and there’s a guaranteed £100 for any Galaxy ‘S’ range phone (not too shabby).

Of course, shoppers’ interest may be heightened by the free Galaxy Watch FE handout too. Again, this is the brand’s more affordable take on a smartwatch, offering accurate digital tracking without all of its swanky features that can be found on the Galaxy Watch 7 for example…which happens to be £75 cheaper.

For £199 the Galaxy Watch FE can do 100 different types of workouts, measure body composition and set personal fitness goals for wearers. Users will also be able to gain insights into their sleeping habits and heart wellness, so the fact it’s free for all S24 FE shoppers is a huge deal.

But what makes the budget S24 FE model worth buying? Well for starters it’s a no-brainer that price plays a huge role in its appeal. As well as this there are some key features hidden inside, as Tech Editor Dave Snelling points out. He said: “It has a pixel-packed triple-lens camera that can shoot better images at night and get closer to action thanks to an optical 3x zoom.

“Along with that camera, Samsung also reckons the S24 FE will be great for gaming with it capable of offering cutting-edge features such as Ray Tracing. Just like the standard S24, the FE includes Galaxy AI which can translate calls, help you make notes and search Google just by circling an object in a photo.”

It’s not the only brand to bring out recent budget editions of new smartphone ranges, take Google for example and its Pixel 8a edition of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro range.
