The attack is the latest in a wave of Russian drone strikes that saw 90 of the deadly craft enter Ukrainian airspace, striking multiple targets and sowing chaos amongst the civilian population
Twelve people have been killed in a Russian drone strike on a bus in eastern Ukraine, according to a local official.
The attack, which took place in the Pavlohrad district, east of the city of Dnipro, also injured seven others, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Hanzha said.
The attack is the latest in a wave of Russian drone strikes that saw 90 unmanned attack craft enter Ukraine overnight, the country’s air force said, with 14 of them striking targets in nine locations.
One overnight attack saw a woman and a man killed in the nearby city of Dnipro, Mr Hanzha earlier confirmed. About 170 miles to the south, the port city of Kherson was also pounded by Russian shelling which saw a 59-year-old woman seriously injured, according to a Facebook post by the municipal military administration.
A maternity hospital in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia was also the target of a Russian drone attack, according to the Ukrainian emergency service. Six women were reportedly injured in the blast and the attack started a fire in the gynaecology reception area, which was later brought under control.
The news comes on the same day Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the next round of peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv would take place on Wednesday and Thursday with envoys meeting in Abu Dhabi next week to try and find an agreement that will end Putin’s invasion.
“We have just had a report from our negotiating team. The dates for the next trilateral meetings have been set: Feb 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi,” Mr Zelensky said today in a Telegram post. “Ukraine is ready for substantive talks, and we are interested in an outcome that will bring us closer to a real and dignified end to the war.”
