There are delays to mail across the UK this weekend.
Royal Mail has warned 77 postcode areas of disruption to mail. The delivery firm has updated its list of delays for this weekend (Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2).
Weekend deliveries are set to take place on Saturday, which includes letters and parcels, while just parcel deliveries will take place on Sunday. However, there will be delays to certain areas of the UK including Barry, Carmarthen, Dudley, Milton Keynes, Minehead and Wolverhampton.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.
“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”
Delays to mail can be frustrating, especially if you keep getting unwanted post as you wait for important deliveries.
Royal Mail recently told homeowners that there is a simple way to stop being asked to take mail for a neighbour or having your mail taken to a neighbour’s house.
While many people are happy to take in mail for their neighbours and return the favour when asked, others might see it as a nuisance. And, there is a solution for anyone who wants to opt out.
Homeowners simply need to request a sticker to display on their letterbox. Royal Mail explained: “If you’d prefer not to have any of your items delivered to a neighbour, you can opt out by displaying a sticker at your address.”
The postal service explained: “After we’ve received your details, we’ll send you a sticker for you to display on or near your letterbox. You should receive the sticker within four working days of completing the form.
“Once the opt-out sticker is on display, we won’t deliver your mail to a neighbour or ask you to accept your neighbour’s mail. You can order additional or replacement stickers via the online form.
“If you want your items left with your neighbour when you’re not home, but don’t want to receive their undelivered mail, just tell the post person when they arrive.”
