Following Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct a former royal photographer has offered his perspective on Andrew’s arrest

A former royal photographer has claimed none of the Royal Family knew about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest before it took place.

Andrew has found himself embroiled in controversy for more than a decade, and it seems the Royal Family has finally grasped the gravity of the situation, convening to tackle the latest developments, according to one royal commentator.

Speaking exclusively to Ian Pelham Turner, a former royal photographer, he offered his perspective on Andrew’s arrest, which occurred on Thursday morning, revealing that the Royal Family received no prior warning.

Pelham Turner elaborated: “None of the Royal Family, including King Charles and Prince William, were informed beforehand that the arrest was going to take place.

“I am sure nerves will be on frantic keel behind the scenes with the Royal Family concerned about what explosive details may come out,” Pelham Turner remarked. “I think a war room may have been set up at Windsor with top current and previous royal consultants brought in for their advice.”

The royal commentator suggested that both Charles and William reject any “predetermined involvement” in the manner the arrest unfolded, reports the Mirror US.

Whilst deeply embarrassing for Andrew, this is perceived as “the Royal Family showing the iron fist in the velvet glove,” Pelham Turner observed. In the wake of his arrest, Charles issued a statement creating distance between himself and the disgraced royal, whilst confirming the police have his backing.

King Charles’ statement

The King said in a written statement this morning: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R.”

“This is the biggest crisis facing Buckingham Place and the Royal Family,” Pelham Turner remarked. “Whilst doing interviews outside Buckingham Palace the King was speedily rushed by global media with outriders clearing the way,” he noted.

Andrew released from police custody

Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct during his tenure as a UK trade envoy between 2001 and 2011, and has subsequently been released from police custody.

In an update published at 7.31pm, the force said: “Thames Valley Police is able to provide an update in relation to an investigation into the offence of misconduct in public office. On Thursday (19/2) we arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

“The arrested man has now been released under investigation. We can also confirm that our searches in Norfolk have now concluded.”

The force said searches in Berkshire are still underway and that it would make no further comment at this time.

Buckingham Palace has been contacted for comment.
