A search is underway in Grimsby after two teenage boys were found unwell near to the River Freshney shortly after 5am this morning. Police fear more people could be harmed

Police have launched an urgent search close to a river in Grimbsy after two boys were found unwell close by.

Humberside Police were called to the River Freshney after two kids fell sick on Sunday. The force confirmed investigations are underway to “establish if there are any other people that require assistance”.

It remains unclear why or how the boys dropped ill. Specialist officers have joined forces with emergency services to uncover more information regarding the mystery illness. Humberside Fire & Rescue Service said it has sent out resources to assist with the incident including three appliances and one boat. 

A scene guard is in place during the search. In a statement, Humberside Police said: “Enquiries are underway in Grimsby after two teenage boys were found unwell near to the River Freshney shortly after 5am this morning, Sunday 20 October.

“A scene guard is currently in place whilst specialist officers and partner agencies carry out searches in the area to establish if there are any other people that require assistance.”
