The Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, Kent, issued an update following Friday night’s shooting in which a woman was reportedly targeted and shot by a man known to her

A pub struck by horror after a woman was shot on Valentine’s Day and left fighting for her life has issued an update as cops hunt down the shooter.

Emergency services were called to the Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, near Sevenoaks, Kent, on Friday evening after a gun was fired. A woman was rushed to hospital after reports she suffered serious injuries while the shooter fled the scene.

As of late on Friday evening, Kent Police said they were still searching for the gunman, who it’s understood was known to the victim. The Three Horseshoes issued an update on its website and social media channels in the early hours of Saturday following the incident.

In a brief statement, pub owners said: “The Three Horseshoes will be CLOSED today Saturday 15th February following a tragic incident outside the pub last night, sorry for any inconvenience.” Thanking punters for their patience, they added: “Hopefully we will be open on Sunday as usual”.

Forensics teams and officers remained at the scene in the sleepy village on Friday night as the pub was sealed off. Kent Police said efforts were ongoing to find the perpetrator and establish the full circumstances.

A police spokesman said: “The suspect, a man who is believed to be known to the victim, left the area and is currently outstanding. Enquiries to locate him and to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”

Witnesses told the BBC the woman had been shot, but this is yet to be confirmed by police. Steve Maines, a parish councillor in Knockholt, told the broadcaster: “We were sitting having our Valentine’s Day meal when all of a sudden we heard this huge commotion outside in the car park. We were told someone had been shot so we had to leave.”

On social media, pub patron Emma said: “Bloody crazy, we were there for 5 hours today for my Grandad’s wake today. Poor woman!”
