‘It’s nicely padded for a laptop’ and ‘made out of premium material’

Anyone going to university will know the hefty bill for items needed for their first year, including laptops, which are an essential for many courses. Between halls and lecture rooms, students can snap up a ‘lightweight’ laptop bag for less than £10.

Keeping expensive tech safe doesn’t have to come with a high cost. Usually £29.99, the HP Prelude is a sleek laptop backpack designed to keep a 15.6-inch device safe and secure, but without scrimping on design and practicality.

Shopping through deals site TopCashback is what cuts the price even further, as new members will be able to stack the Argos price with a £15 sign-up bonus and cashback. Effectively cutting the cost to £9.37 after cashback.

That’s for both new members of TopCashback and Argos, while existing Argos shoppers (but those still new to TopCashback) can get it for £9.89.

The HP bag comes with water-resistant material, padding, and storage for a fraction of other tech-backed premium brands – including Apple-backed brand Rains. Its Rolltop backpack fits a 15-inch laptop but sells for £109.

Considering the HP bag at Argos is less than £10 with the deal stack, paying over £100 is a huge cost to consider. Another more affordable option can be found at Amazon, with HP rival Lenovo.

The Lenovo casual backpack has a 15-inch laptop compartment and is now £15.99. It’s not water resistant, but the fabric is water-repellent, so if laptop carriers get caught out in any spots of rain, the device will be fine – as long as it’s not torrential.

The HP Prelude isn’t just for 15.6-inch laptops; it’s up to 13 and 14-inch models can still fit securely. As one Argos shopper highlighted: “It keeps my 142 tight along with mouse and lunch.

“Overall excellent, it is waterproof and made of premium material.” Another user of the bag said: “This is a good bag. It’s nicely padded for a laptop, spare room for pens and pads.”

Saying that their laptop is ‘quite protected’, another shopper raised how the backpack was ‘comfortable to wear’. Another person said: “Perfect thickness and material.”

But the same shopper did highlight it was ‘missing a hole for a powerbank cable’, which would be ideal for charging on the go. Despite that, the same shopper finished off by calling it ‘worth it’.
