Isabelle Dale allegedly had a sexual relationship wth HMP Coldingley inmate Shahid Sharif – who was jailed there for his part in the sickening robbery of a jeweller’s shop

A prison guard accused of having sex with a convicted robber gushed to him over the phone – after he rapped to her – a court was told.

Isabelle Dale, 23, was impressed after 33-year-old Shahid Sharif sang to her on the phone, jurors heard yesterday. They listened to recordings of the conversation, during which Dale told the lag: “I like that one baby…I’m so proud of you. My favourite one (rap) you’ve ever done…is the first one you ever sent me.”

Sharif had rapped: “Post-traumatic stress disorder, another security thinks I’m out of order” on the phone, a conversation said to have happened amid the couple’s alleged fling at HMP Coldingley near Woking, Surrey. Sharif was three years into the 12-year sentence he received for his part in a sickening robbery of a jeweller’s shop, during which watches and gems to the value of £620,000 were taken.

Southwark Crown Court was told yesterday how two inmates acted as lookouts as Dale romped withSharif in a prayer room at the jail. Dale emerged alongside him four minutes later appearing to “re-adjust her belt area,” the jury was informed.

Sharif got Dale to help him smuggle envelopes laced with the drug spice into his new prison, jurors heard. Dale allegedly operated Sharif’s drug-dealing Snapchat account to source the synthetic cannabis through 27-year-old Lilea Sallis. When Dale was arrested, police found drug-smuggling paraphernalia in the boot of her car.

Officers also discovered an engagement ring Dale said had been bought by Sharif and a “framed canvas” of the couple hanging over her bed, the court has heard.

Other phone calls, played to the jury, included conversations about hot chocolate. In the chat, Dale said: “I put like a little bit of milk in there to make it a little bit nicer…I microwave the milk.” At one point Sharif tells Dale: “This is my 27th prison in three and-a half years.”

Victoria Mital, the group safety lead at HMP Coldingley, told the court that she was asked to deal with a complaint from Dale against two other prison officers. Dale complained that she was being watched, and being bullied because of her appearance.

Kieran Brand, prosecuting, asked Ms Mital: “She perceived that there was bullying against her. She believed that was due to her age sex and appearance.”

Ms Mital replied: “Yes.” She said Dale, who is from Portsmouth, Hampshire, was upset when someone else was asked to deal with a package relating to Sharif.

“She stated that she was asked to deal with the property. She was then told that she wouldn’t be dealing with the property, that it would be done by someone else. She felt that that was her being targeted.”

Ms Mital said that she did not speak to the two officers against whom Dale had made her complaint.

“The information I had and the evidence I had led me to conclude that there was nothing to be gained by speaking to them. They would refute the allegations.”

Dale denies two counts of misconduct in a public office and conspiracy to convey a “List A” prohibited article into prison.

Sallis, of East Sussex, denies conspiracy to convey a “List A” prohibited article into prison. Sharif earlier admitted conspiring with the two women and others unknown to convey drugs into prison. The trial continues.
