Prince Harry is ‘clinging on to his royal status’ in California while Meghan Markle builds her empire, a royal writer has explosively claimed.
Tom Bower, who has written several unauthorised biographies on the rich and famous, has promised more bombshell revelations about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in his upcoming book. The royal biographer suggests that the Sussexes are trapped in an ongoing struggle, fuelled by a desire for retaliation. He hinted that Harry desperately desires a ‘reconciliation’ with the Royal Family and his father, King Charles, but Meghan Markle’s focus lies elsewhere.
Bower claimed: “They have a crisis, Meghan wants to be a billionaire celebrity and Harry doesn’t understand that world, other than [understanding that] Meghan wants to be famous. He’s spent his whole life never having a penny in his pocket. He’s never regularly travelled on the Tube, never had to worry about having a car or a job. So he doesn’t understand where she’s coming from, which is that she worked phenomenally hard, struggled hard, and was constantly humiliated, and wants the security of finance and status.”

He sensationally added: “She hasn’t got the status she craves, she hasn’t got the pulling power. He’s stuck in California clinging on to his royal status, as is she. Harry’s thinking is of reconciliation. That’s just totally unrealistic. There is zero chance of reconciliation because there is irreconcilable anger on the part of William and Kate.”
Further reports suggest the ongoing family rift has deepened, particularly between father and son, with Harry’s attempts to reach out through calls and letters allegedly being ignored.
When the King had a short stay in hospital last month after suffering side effects from his cancer treatment, it was said that Harry only found out about it on the news, like everyone else. And now, according to PEOPLE magazine, Harry also has not been told about his father’s current condition or prognosis.
So-called friends of the prince told the publication that Charles has been ‘unavailable’ during Harry’s last three visits to the UK – the latest being scheduled far in advance due to court commitments. And insiders at the palace say there is no sign of reconciliation, with one noting, “I don’t think there is any rapprochement”, and another confirming, “They are distant”.
The King is reportedly keeping his distance to avoid being drawn into discussions about security, sources close to Harry believe. Harry was in London last week for his appeal against the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office. Following his relocation to the US, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) had earlier ruled that Harry’s level of taxpayer-funded security should change while he’s in the UK.
In the thick of the controversy, the Duke revealed to The Telegraph, “people would be shocked by what’s being held back”, after key evidence was presented behind closed doors. Harry has suggested that his police protection was stripped in a misguided attempt to force him and the Duchess of Sussex to remain in Britain.
