A body language expert says footage of the reuniting Windsor walkabout shows Prince Harry directing Meghan Markle away from Prince William and Kate, in their first public appearance together since the Oprah Winfrey interview
The ‘fab four’ walk at Windsor Castle saw Prince William, Prince Harry, Meghan, and Kate come together for the first time after a season of public tension. The procession after the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death was a poignant moment, but footage from the day shows it may not have felt unified for the royal brothers and their wives.
Body language expert Jesús Enrique Rosas has looked back on footage from the momentous day, and while it shows the four walking side-by-side thanking wellwishers, he claims to have spotted Prince Harry ushering his wife away from Prince William and Kate. The moment saw the four walk back to their car after going out to see the tributes left for the late monarch, an occasion Prince William reportedly reached out to Meghan and Harry as an olive branch. Although videos captured on the day show possible signs of tension.
In a recent video uploaded to his channel Royal Rogue on Youtube, Jesús said the footage showed Prince Harry ‘pushing his wife away from William and Catherine’, and as reported by The Express, was one of the most ‘spectacular displays of body language’ that the expert has ever seen. As the group got ready to leave Harry could be seen guiding Meghan to the car but the video showed them getting mixed up with the seats, as Harry can then be seen guiding his wife around to the right side, situated behind the passenger’s seat. Which happened to be occupied by Kate.
It was here that Harry stepped behind his wife and placed his hands on her waist as if to encourage her to move, walking awkwardly past Prince William. And it wasn’t the only seemingly anxious interaction. As Jesús said: “It was obvious that despite how uncomfortable Catherine could be, she managed to slay. She nailed the way one should behave when you find yourself in a situation in which you need to share the stage with others.
“Meghan was nervous, looking in Catherine’s direction, and Meghan’s left hand – was at least, for a split second – covering her chest. Catherine was walking tall with her hands relaxed and her chin really up.” Jesús commented further saying how Kate seemd a lot more confident in the moment, “I have seen Catherine walking a thousand times and she usually doesn’t have her chin that high up – in some scenarios, it could be read as arrogance, but in this case, it was more like… she was showing who was in charge.
“Despite what was being requested of William and Catherine in this moment, they behaved in the most diplomatic and polite way, and that is the ability that some people have, that is part of emotional intelligence.” In the video Jesús also reviewed footage and images of Prince William addressing wellwishers, which he says shows Meghan more reserved reactions to the crowd, compared to Kate’s. The capture shows William addressing and waving to the crowds, followed by Kate, before Meghan turned to make a ‘small wave’.
Looking back over pictures from the day the body language expert then gave an opinion on the four as they stood to by the car. He said: “This is another picture truly representative of the power of presence. You can see the tension in Meghan’s body with her arm contracted and if you have a keen eye, you can also see the tension in her neck. That is not to say that Catherine was not tense as well, but even in that tension, she knew that she had a role bigger than herself and her feelings.”
