In a significant development in family relations, Harry and Meghan travelled to Highgrove House with their children this afternoon to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla

The King and Queen hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at Highgrove House today.

The Monarch met with his son Prince Harry and his family shortly after the Duke left the Invictus Games in Birmingham. Meghan landed in Britain for the first time in four years earlier today, but didn’t appear at the event.

Instead, she and her children travelled to the King and Queen’s private residence, Buckingham Palace confirmed this evening. Officials described the meeting at the King’s home in Gloucestershire as a “private family occasion” and no images of the family reunion will be released.

It is the first time Prince Harry and Meghan have been in the UK together since 2022, when they attended the funeral of his grandmother the Queen.

It also marks the first time the King has seen his two youngest grandchildren since the Sussex family flew in for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.

The Prince has travelled to Britain alone since, and met his father on a trip last September.

The gathering today is a significant development in family relations that have been strained since the Duke and Duchess’ departure from the UK in 2020, when they left for America and stood down for royal duty.

However, Harry did not meet with his brother Prince William, was playing in a charity polo match in Windsor. The brothers’ relationship appears to remain broken and there are said to be no plans for them to meet while Harry and Meghan are in Britain.

Princess Kate was pictured cheering from the sidelines as William competed for a charity cup, with over £1million raised.

It is not known where Harry, Meghan and their children are staying while on their visit but the family reunion comes after a bruising week for the Duke, who lost a £50 million privacy case against the publishers of the Daily Mail.

Harry’s return to the UK was thrown into chaos just hours before he was due to arrive after his spokesman announced on Monday morning that he had finally accepted an offer to stay at a royal residence for his visit this week.

However, just minutes later, Palace sources confirmed his request had been denied because they said he sent it too late. Harry remains at loggerheads with Buckingham Palace over security arrangements.

Meghan, 44, had originally been expected to join Harry at the one-year to go celebration at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. But despite having landed in the UK with their children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, she was not by the royal’s side at this morning’s event.
