A new documentary has explored if the Duke of Sussex could be welcomed back into the Firm once William becomes King, and it all comes down to the Princess of Wales

Princess Kate could hold the key for a reconciliation between warring brothers Prince William and Prince Harry as she plays the role of ‘peacemaker’, according to a new documentary.

The Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales have been locked in a bitter rift for several years, largely perpetuated by Harry’s willingness to share the secrets of the royal family since quitting the Firm in 2020.

Now, with Harry’s job prospects in America drying up, a new documentary has explored what it might look like if Harry were to be welcomed back into the royal family once his older brother ascends the throne.

Speaking on the new Channel 5 programme titled The Jobless Prince: What Will Harry Do Next?, Daily Mail royal expert Charlotte Griffiths believes the key to Harry rebuilding his relationship with William in any capacity lies with his sister-in-law: Princess Kate.

Griffiths said: “I think Harry could get around the William problem if he got Catherine onboard. If Catherine played peacemaker, which I think she would be open to as she is, or was, quite fond of Harry.”

While the royal expert believed there could be some hope for Harry and William’s relationship, she also declared that it is extremely unlikely Harry will ever be welcomed back as a working royal when William is King. She said simply: “William will not have his brother back in the royal family when he is on the throne.”

There have been several times over the years where the Princess of Wales has solidified herself in the peacemaker role within the royal family, particularly when it comes to William and Harry, who have been at odds for more than half a decade.

At the funeral of Prince Philip in April 2021, the royals walked back to WIndsor Castle on foot following the service in St George’s Chapel. Kate, William and Harry were seen chatting as they left the Chapel – before Kate quietly dropped behind allowing the brothers to talk.

Speaking at the time, Brian Hoey, who has written a biography of Prince William, told The Sun: “They say cometh the hour, cometh the man. But in the Royal Family’s case, it’s a woman. Thank God for Kate — she is the rock the monarchy will depend on. On Saturday, she behaved absolutely impeccably.”

Kate’s peace-keeping role stems back to before Harry and Meghan quit the royal family in 2020, with reports claiming that she advised Harry to extend an olive branch to William in 2019 to mend their fractured relationship.

At Easter that year, Kate tried to repair “a complete and utter breakdown of communication” between the brothers. Her advice led to Harry and Meghan inviting them to their then new home at Windsor after they attended church on Easter Sunday.

They had tea and chatted for around 30 minutes at Frogmore Cottage . At the time, a palace source told the Mirror : “The Duchess and Harry have developed a very close bond over the years.

“Kate is acutely aware of the importance of William and Harry getting along, not just because of perception but their collective responsibility to the monarchy as a whole.”
