Former British triathlon competitor, Non Stanford, told how William gushed about George’s new love for sports as she was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire at Windsor Castle
Prince George has added sports to his long list of hobbies – and uses one secret hack to stay speedy during triathlons, his parents reportedly told guests at Windsor Castle this month.
Prince William held an investiture ceremony on November 1 last year following a break from royal duties while his three children were on school break. One of the attendees, Non Stanford, a former British triathlon competitor, was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire – and told how William gushed about George’s new love for sports.
According to Stanford, the young Royal has been putting talcum powder in his shoes whilst competing in school triathlons – a hack often used to help with transitions, and prevent blisters and chafing.
“He [Prince William] was telling me how George has been doing triathlon at school,” Stanford said, according to PA. “There is also a gentleman who now works for William, who has done a bit of triathlon and has been giving George advice about putting talcum powder in his shoes. George has been sharing his talc with his classmates, and they are all excited about these tips.”
George has also taken up rugby, and recently progressed from playing tag rugby to touch rugby as he’s now being taught how to tackle, Hello! Magazine reports.
“They are trying to teach him the rules,” Kate said at the Wales vs England Six Nations rugby match in Cardiff last year. “They move them around for their confidence. Because he is tall, he has the physique.”
It is not the only hobby the youngster has picked up in recent months, as he was found to have started flying at just 11-years-old and took his first flight at an Airfield near his Windsor home in September.
The future monarch was spotted soaring above White Waltham Airfield near Maidenhead, Berkshire – a 20-minute drive from Adelaide Cottage – on the final day of his summer holidays, as the Prince and Princess of Wales proudly watched on. An onlooker described the moment, saying: “He loved it. It’s the right time to start.”
“The Royal Family has a proud tradition of flying and it looks like George is next in line. His parents watched George take flight from the safety of the ground but he flew with an instructor and loved it,” they added.
Another person present at the airfield said: “There were probably 30 or 40 people in the clubhouse. Catherine and William watched George take off. But they were relaxed about it. All three of them had been pretty chilled in the clubhouse.”
