Prince Andrew’s links to the late billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has seen him step back from carrying out duties for the Royal Family and now giving up his titles

King Charles has reportedly produced a one-word reaction following Prince Andrew’s surrendering of his titles, including that of Duke of York.

Andrew gave up his titles in disgrace following a “close consultation” with the King and his son, Prince William. Andrew made the announcement on Friday where he also shared he would give up the Order of the Garter title.

While Andrew handed over his titles, he will remain at the Royal Lodge as he reportedly has a “cast iron” tenancy that runs until 2078. Despite this, the King was reportedly “glad” that Andrew has handed over his royal titles.

Andrew’s move comes after he become further engulfed in the case of the late Virginia Giuffre who claimed to have been trafficked by infamous paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, reports The Sun. It comes after the outlet reported Andrew had told the late Epstein “we’ll play some more” in an email that referenced Virginia, which indicated he had spoken to the paedophile after he claimed to have cut off contact with him.

Buckingham Palace said it would be “considering all options” following the revelation. He and his former wife Sarah Ferguson were given their tittles following their 1986 wedding day.

Sarah has also been confirmed to drop her Duchess of York titles. But Andrew will continue to remain the Duke of York but he will not use the title.

He will also not attend family celebrations for Christmas this year at Sandringham. Andrew said in a statement: “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

Andrew’s downfall began after his close relationship with Epstein came to light. His email to Epstein was sent on February 29, 2011, after the billionaire paedophile had been convicted of procuring a child for prostitution in 2008.

The Mirror has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
