Teigan says she’ll ‘never go back’ as the cheap find has become her ‘biggest money saver’ – and now she’s is urging others to consider it too

Getting your nails done is one of many treats in life, but it can become expensive very quickly. People often end up paying a small fortune depending on what they want – but one savvy shopper has figured out a way to save heaps of money and still have great nails thanks to Primark.

TikTok user Teigan Hamilton, who goes by @Teig4444 on the app, posted a short clip of her freshly manicured and polished nails. She said she has “saved nearly £300” by ditching the salon and heading to her local Primark instead.

In the video, she explained: “The biggest money saver – Primark’s £1.80 nails. I chronically got acrylics for 4+ years. This has saved me so much money.

“It only takes two minutes once a week to put them on and change them. They are so durable. I will never go back.”

She’s talking about the range of press on nails available in most Primark stores across the UK. There are a huge variety to browse through, from patterned designs and different nail shapes – there are some that are perfect for Halloween too.

Buying one pack per week at £1.80 works out to roughly £93.60 for the whole year. Compared to salon prices, it’s no wonder Teigan is buzzing with a ‘£300 saving’ as getting your nails done professionally can cost onwards of £30 each time.

Offering some advice in the comments, Teigan wrote that “it’s about the prep” when asked how she gets them looking like a salon-worthy job. She explained: “You need to proper dehydrate your nails and use a ROUGH nail file, thin layer of glue all over the nail bed AND inside the nail and press and hold for 30-40 secs”.

Someone else added their own bit of advice to people tempted by this. Emma wrote: “Put a couple of coats of clear gel over the top! Makes them thicker and stops chipping!”

When she’s ready for a change, Teigan said she’s able to “pop them off” with a “cuticle pusher and a “long hot bath”. She also suggested people “get cuticle cutters too cos sometimes pieces do not want to come off.”

Her video has been watched thousands of times and gained interest amongst people willing to also ditch their nail salon for Primark. One viewer said the nails were “cute” and another said that “you’d never know they’re from Primark”. A third said: “Looks lovely. I’ll have to give this a try!”
