Shoppers have spotted the beauty products on offer in stores across the UK

Primark shoppers have spotted a new range of beauty products inspired by a viral sensation for a fraction of the cost. Some said they were “sprinting” to find it in their local branch of the fashion store, which is designed to give you ‘smoother skin’.

Just before the New Year, Primark launched a Korean beauty (sometimes shortened to K-beauty) range of products offering a “glass skin” look for under £5. There are some items included in the collection for as little as £2.50.

Included in the collection is a Glass Skin Rice Toner Lotion (£4.50, 100ml), Glass Skin Overnight Peel Mask (£5, 75ml), Glass Skin Serum (28ml), Glass Skin Cleansing Foam (£4.50, 100ml) and the Glass Skin Gel Moisturiser (£5, 50g). On the cheaper end of the range, Primark fans can pick up a Glass Skin Collagen Mask (£2.50 each) and Glass Skin Gel Toner Pads (also £2.50 for a pack of 20).

Staff from the Braehead branch of Primark posted a video online about the new additions to the discount retailer’s beauty line-up, offering an affordable way for people to step into Korean beauty. The worker wrote: “Korean skincare by Primark”, and showed off the items on sale now, with most available to browse online.

Some shoppers shared their opinions on the new products. In the comments, one said: “Ughhh I’m sprinting this time over there, last time I didn’t get the other skincare lines.” Another wrote: “I have the face mask. It’s SO good! Put it in the fridge to reuse it!”

“That glass facemask looks unreal,” a third person put under the video. One more said: “Primark face masks are already really good so I’d love to try this.” A fifth person commented: “Need to try it all, would save a fortune!”

Others were quite critical of using Primark products. To avoid potential issues, it is best to perform a small patch test before applying any new product to your skin to check for any reactions.

Why is Korean beauty so popular?

According to the BBC, beauty is big business in South Korea, with some figures believing that good skincare has become “ingrained in Korean culture”. Korean beauty’s popularity stems from its formulas using unique ingredients, which often have a focus on hydration and skin health.

Some popular products make use of natural ingredients rarely used in Western beauty, including things like snail mucin, ginseng and fermented extracts, which all boast specific benefits. Most products offer a gentle, holistic, routine-based approach that blends ancient wisdom with modern science, appealing to people seeking effective results.

Online platforms, such as beauty influencers on TikTok and Instagram, are another significant reason behind the global success of this beauty branch. People from around the world are being connected to the idea of incorporating these products into their daily routines after some earn viral success.
