The £8 high street option could be a more affordable alternative for John Lewis fans

Primark is selling a pair of sandals that could easily be mistaken at a glance for a pricier pair at a high-end retailer. The popular high-street fashion store is well known for its wide variety of shoes, clothes and accessories at affordable prices.

It is a top pick for many people as it often sells more affordable versions of items that may be more expensive elsewhere. With spring underway and the weather improving, plenty of Brits will be refreshing their wardrobes to welcome the new season – including updating their shoe collection.

One pair of shoes in Primark’s latest spring fashion collection is the Bow Detail Ballerina Mule Sandals. The sandals cost £8 and come in either beige or black. Sizes range from a UK two to a UK nine.

The product description reads: “A pair of ballerina-inspired mule sandals, finished with a central bow detail.” The flat mule sandals feature a backless mule design, a ballerina-inspired silhouette and a distinctive central bow detail on the front.

Primark’s £8 shoes could be an affordable alternative for anyone who likes the look of John Lewis’ £155 Flattered Malva Suede Backless Ballerina Mules. They share similarities in design and shape, and come in a similar beige colour.

The product description for the £155 shoes reads: “Handmade in Elda, Spain, this pair of backless ballerina mules from Flattered features luxurious suede uppers to add a soft texture to your look. Sitting on a flat heel, they are constructed with a slightly angular toe.”

While the two pairs of shoes look similar at a glance, there are still some differences, besides price. Primark’s £8 option is made with a more textured beige material and has a gold attachment in the middle of the bow. The shoes are also slightly flatter than the £155 John Lewis alternative.

For shoppers interested in Primark’s £8 sandals this spring, they can check them out in person at their nearest store or place an order for pickup via Primark’s Click and Collect service. Meanwhile, the John Lewis sandals are available in stores and online.

Elsewhere at Primark, shoppers can get the store’s Distressed Midi Tote Bag in brown for £15. TikTok users have spotted its similarity to the Balenciaga City Bags, which carry a staggering £1,890 price tag.

Sharing footage of the bags in-store, TikToker Samantha Kraja said: “Primark streetwear style bags. Such good value for money!!” The TikTok video’s comments section was full of shoppers eager to snap up the bargain, with numerous people commenting on its resemblance to the designer original. For instance, one person posted: “So Primark the new Balenciaga huh.”
