Kelly Loves is recalling some batches of Sushi Ginger sold in sold in ASDA and Waitrose stores as the possible presence of glass means the product is unsafe to eat

A popular brand of jarred ginger has been urgently recalled from supermarket shelves over fears some may contain pieces of glass. Kelly Loves is recalling specific batches of Sushi Ginger as the possible presence of glass means it is unsafe to eat.

The warning has been issued to customers who have bought 150ml jars with the batch code UK12019 and a best before date of 09 February 2026. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned the affected product was sold in ASDA and Waitrose stores. The FSA advises customers to not eat the product and return it to any Sushi Daily kiosk for a refund. For further information, please contact Kelly Loves at: contact@kellyloves.com.

Urgent recall warning issued for popular sandwich staple sold at Tesco and Morrisons

In a statement, the FSA said: “Kelly Loves is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”

It continued: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.”

The urgent warning comes after a popular sandwich staple was pulled from shelves earlier this month. Baxters Sliced Gherkins Crunchy and Sweet has been pulled from shelves because some packs contain mustard which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard.

The affected batch codes in the recall are 2400059, 2400060, 2400061, 2400062 and 2400063. These batch codes have best before dates of either June 2026 or July 2026. No other batch codes are included in the recall. Baxter’s Sliced Gherkins Crunchy and Sweet is sold in Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco for around £2.50 for a 540G jar.

If you have purchased one of the jars that are included in the recall and you’re allergic to mustard, you should return it to the store you bought it from for a full refund. You can also contact Baxters for a refund on 0800 389 8389 or by emailing CCUK@baxters.com.

In February Nestle issued an urgent recall for some boxes of cereal saying ‘do not eat’ and urging customers to throw the boxes in the bin. The company has issued a series of 14 codes you need to check for to find out if your morning meal has been included in the recall notice.

For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites. You should also notice recall notices in stores if they’ve pulled a product from shelves. We recently reported on how Birds Eye recalled packs of Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Garlic Bread over fears it could spark an allergic reaction.
