Customers have been told the store is only closed temporarily and for a short time for maintenance work – however, the bakery chain has yet to confirm these claims
Greggs has suddenly closed one of its stores – but mystery surrounds the reason why it has shut. The bakery chain has closed its branch in Old Hall Street in Liverpool this week, much to the disappointment of local residents.
Liverpool Echo reports that customers have been told the store is only closed temporarily and for a short time for maintenance work – however, Greggs has yet to confirm these claims. The Mirror has also contacted Greggs for comment.
Thankfully, steak bake and sausage roll fans still have 22 other Greggs locations in Liverpool to choose from. It comes after Greggs revamped its new customer app offer.
You can now get one free iced drink if you download and sign up to the Greggs app. Once you have signed up, you’ll see the freebie in the wallet section of your app. Greggs fans get one stamp every time you scan the app in store.
For every nine stamps collected on the Greggs app in different categories – from hot drinks, sandwiches, and bakes to sweet treats – you then get a free Greggs menu item of your choice.
All Greggs app users also get a free sweet treat every year to celebrate their birthday. Greggs has over 2,600 shops across the UK.
Greggs said: “Greggs is playing it cool and rewarding new customers with a free iced drink when they download and register on the Greggs App.
“From today, Greggs is giving its classic free hot drink welcome offer a summer sidekick as new users of the Greggs App will now be able to take their pick from the tasty iced drink lineup upon registration – for free.
“Whether it’s a Peach Iced Tea or Mint Lemonade for some fun in the sun at the park, or the new Iced Caramelised Biscuit Latte to keep cool when running errands around town, there’s a delicious iced drink on the menu for every occasion this summer.
“Once in the inner circle of the app, Greggs fans can also get exclusive access to many more tasty rewards, because for every nine stamps collected in a category on the Greggs App, users can then redeem a Greggs menu item of their choice within that category for free.”
Greggs has also introduced a brand new summer menu including a new Korean chicken sandwich range. This includes the new Korean Crispy Chicken Burger, Korean BBQ Chicken Wrap, Korean BBQ Chicken Flatbread and Spicy Korean BBQ Chicken Baguette
There is also a brand new Red Pepper, Feta & Spinach Bake and Chicken, Sweetcorn & Red Onion Pizza, which is available by the slice, or in boxes of four of six slices.
