A disposal order has been issued in Bolton this evening after police swarmed the town centre following reports of trouble involving as many as 60 people

Police descended on Bolton town centre following reports of trouble involving up to 60 people this evening.

Riot-trained Tactical Aid Unit officers and paramedics were pictured near the McDonald’s on Knowsley Street in the town centre.

Greater Manchester Police imposed a so-called dispersal order on an area of the town which gives officers powers to order people suspected of being involved in disorder to leave the area or face arrest. The ‘section 34’ order will be in place until 2am, Manchester Evening News reports.

The action taken by GMP follows what it describes as ‘a number of reports of anti-social behaviour and criminality involving a group of up to 60 individuals in and around the Market Place area’.

GMP said: “The order, which is in place until approximately 2am tomorrow (Sunday 16 November), will allow us to tackle these issues with an emphasis on the safety of the wider public in this area.”

Inspector Nick White, from GMP’s Bolton division, said: “The reported behaviour of those involved, putting members of the public at risk, will not be tolerated.

“Bolton should be a safe place for all those who wish to visit to make use of facilities within the town centre. You can expect to see an increased visible presence, and anyone with concerns should speak to officers on the ground.”

This comes after an easyJet pilot was forced to declare an emergency on a flight from Paris to Edinburgh.

Flight EZY3242 took off from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport just after 5pm on Friday evening and touched down in the Scottish capital shortly before 6.30pm.

As per flight tracking website FlightRadar24, the pilot issued a 7700 code during the descent phase of the journey, indicating a general emergency onboard. Paramedics were waiting for the easyJet plane upon landing. FlightRadar24 posted: “#U23242 from Paris to Edinburgh squawking 7700 on descent into Edinburgh.”

An easyJet spokesperson said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY3242 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Edinburgh on 14 November was met by paramedics due to a passenger requiring urgent medical assistance.

“The well-being of our passengers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority and our crew are trained to evaluate and respond to medical situations onboard.”
