‘The MOST comfortable period underwear I have ever worn’
Olympic swimmer-backed period-proof pants brand WUKA has launched a huge Black Friday sale – and it’s all in support of a bigger mission to tackle period stigma in sport. With up to 40% off its best-selling activewear, underwear and teen ranges, the brand is using the biggest shopping moment of the year to help stop one in two girls dropping out of sport due to their periods.
WUKA, the first B Corp-certified reusable period pants brand, is combining major savings with a message of empowerment. The campaign arrives as new insights reveal that 71% of girls avoid physical activity during their period and half quit sports altogether by the time they reach their teens, citing fear of leaks, embarrassment or lack of access to products.
Backed by Olympians including Hannah Miley MBE, this Black Friday event focuses on making period underwear and other products more affordable and accessible with 40% off the Perform Collection, 30% off Ultimate and 20% off Stretch favourites. “Periods shouldn’t bench anyone,” says Ruby Raut, CEO and co-founder of WUKA.
“We’re not just running a sale. We’re removing barriers. Because every girl and woman deserves to feel confident in her body, whether she’s diving, sprinting or scoring goals.” First up in the stretch comfort range is the Stretch Period Pants Seamless Midi Brief, which are available for light, medium, heavy and super heavy flows and come in sizes XS-6XL, as well as colours Black and Light Nude.
The pants are made with ‘innovative Stretch Technology’ which can flex to fit bodies across sizes while offering comfort, coverage and leak proof protection. They can also hold 20ml+ of period blood, which is the equivalent of about four tampons or three pads.

Another option is the Teen Stretch Period Pants Seamless Midi Brief that is for both heavy and super heavy flows and comes in sizes 2XS to L. They can absorb up to 60ml of period blood and provide up to 12 hours of wear without leaks or discomfort.
Next is the Stretch Period Pants Seamless Thong that is available in sizes XS to 3XL and provides light to medium absorbency, as well as holding up to 10-15ml of period blood, which is the equivalent of two to three tampons or one to two pads. There is also the Teen Stretch Period Pants First Period Pack Midi, which is available in sizes 2XS to L.
This comes with one WUKA Teen Stretch Seamless Heavy Flow Period Pants product, a book about growing to love the body and a two-pocket waterproof wet bag in black. With the Ultimate line, there is the Ultimate Period Pants Lace Hipster that comes in sizes XS to 6XL, and each pair absorbs up to 15ml of period blood or light leaks.
These ones stand out as they are designed with a hipster cut that pairs nicely with low-rise skirts or jeans. Then there is the Ultimate Period Pants Bikini Brief that comes in sizes 2XS to XL and is ideal for medium or heavy flows.
For those who want to head swimming or on holidays, there is the Ultimate Period Pants Bikini Brief that comes in sizes XXS to XL and holds up to medium and heavy flows. These are designed with a high leg style and soft organic cotton and hold up to 15ml of period blood.
When it comes to being active, WUKA also has the Period Activewear Cycling Shorts available in sizes XS to 2XL. These are built for medium flows and can absorb up to 15ml of fluid, which is the same as two to three tampons, and they are designed specifically with a ‘smooth invisi-fit seam’ and two side pockets.
For alternative options, M&S has a 3pk of Heavy Absorbency Period Full Briefs for £16. These are available in sizes 6 to 24, are said to fit true to size and feature a ‘triple layer absorbent system’.
Debenhams then has the Modibodi Period Pant Teen Boyshort Moderate Black Knickers that are £14.25, down from £18.99. These are available for eight up to 16 years of age, are leakproof and offer ‘full coverage hip protection’.
The WUKA products have been rated highly on its website, however, For example with the shorts, one person said: “Best. Shorts. Ever. I use them for running rather than cycling and they’re excellent. Definitely going to get a couple more pairs.” For the Seamless Midi Brief, another said: “Snug, secure and leakproof. The MOST comfortable period underwear I have ever worn, doesn’t dig in anywhere and actually looks nice on which is a bonus!”
Some others disagreed as one said: “Relatively new to Period Pants and these are the second brand I’ve tried. I felt confident in the product through my heaviest day. The shape of the pants is super comfy, although as a medium I’m not sure I would want them to be any smaller.” Another said: “No leakage, very comfortable and soft fabric, easy to wash. The only disadvantage is the time needed to dry them. I didn’t understand the multiple fabric layers and how they can be used.”
Overall, most people were pleased though, as with the Bikini Brief another said: “Brought this style as I wanted a heavy flow but not massive knickers. They are really comfortable, I wore them from 7am to 8pm and even attended a high intensity rebounding workout. There was no leaking and even with several squats I felt really protected. I am a heavy flow and usually have to change a super plus tampon every 2 to 3 hours and still wear a pad for back up.”
