The character adds a ‘charming’ feature to modern and traditional homes

Next shoppers can get their hands on a new homeware collection that recently sold out but is now back in stock. The items are said to bring a touch of “charming novelty” to rooms, could serve as more affordable alternatives to Jellycat, and come with a ‘warning’ to keep them away from one thing in particular.

Describing the £18 Natural Biscuit Doorstop online, Next bosses wrote: “This charming biscuit-shaped doorstop is a functional and fun addition to any room, featuring a friendly embroidered face and 3D feet. Made from a soft, short-pile faux fur fabric, it offers a tactile feel while effectively holding doors in place. Its playful design and natural golden-brown tone make it a delightful accent piece for both modern and traditional homes.”

A matching £20 cushion is available to order online, too. It has the same custard cream biscuit design with “cute face detailing”. Staff from a Next branch in Sheffield posted a clip of the homeware on display, playfully warning customers not to “dunk this in [their] cuppa tea”.

The description added: “This charming novelty item is designed to bring a playful touch to any room. Whether used as a comfortable cushion or a functional doorstop, it’s sure to be a conversation starter.

“The design faithfully replicates the iconic Custard Cream biscuit, making it a must-have for fans of the classic treat and those seeking unique home decor. Add a sprinkle of fun to your living space with this quirky and charming accessory. Please note – this item is not edible and should not be dunked in tea.”

Fans who spotted the doorstop and cushion online in a TikTok video quickly compared the style to the ever-popular Jellycat brand. One said it was “so cute” and another said that it “looks just like a Jellycat”.

Others were suggesting the next classic biscuit for this treatment. Lots suggested a chocolate bourbon, and others wanted to see Next do something that looked like a Digestive or Jammie Dodger.

One person asked: “Need to make the same but bourbons!” Another put: “Bourbon next? They’re my favourites!” Someone else said: “Now we need this in a doormat along with bourbons and Jammie Dodgers.”

People were quick to praise the design, with one person putting that the items were “cute and sweet”. Someone else felt the polyester cushion was “the best thing ever”.

Despite the overwhelming online response, neither product has any official reviews on the Next website from verified shoppers. The Sheffield account claimed that shoppers had recently been unable to find the doorstop online because the brand had sold out, but as of March 30, both were listed as available to order for click-and-collect or home delivery.

There is also the option to find items in stores across the UK. Next has a stock locator feature on its website that uses a postcode to find the nearest of its 500 branches with the item available.
