Much-loved Kasey Anderson, 24, who was murdered by his 47-year-old girlfriend Natalie Bennett, rang for help as he lay on the floor dying from a stab wound in his heart
A 24-year-old who told a 999 call handler he was ‘dying’ as he lay bleeding after he was stabbed in the heart was the ‘best big brother’ and left his little sister ‘crying for him to come back’.
Kasey Anderson died from his injuries after he was attacked by his girlfriend Natalie Bennett, 47, at her home in Croxteth, Liverpool. She was convicted of his murder by a jury last month following a trial at Liverpool Crown Court, where she was jailed for life with a minimum term of 18 years this week.
He dialled for help while sitting seriously injured on their doorstep to report that he had been stabbed. Kasey ‘repeatedly told the operator that he was dying’ but claimed he ‘did not know who had stabbed him or where they were’. Many of his answers were said to have been ‘incoherent’ and his wounds were so severe he was left vomiting.
Ring doorbell footage recovered from the neighbour’s house showed Bennett ‘holding a knife to (Kasey’s) head’. She claimed during her trial that she had stabbed Kasey in-self defence once after he had attacked her. She showed no reaction as she was handed a life imprisonment but put her thumb up to her dad in the public gallery as she was led down to the cells, reports the Liverpool Echo.
At a sentencing hearing, Kasey’s dad Graham Anderson released a statement alongside step mum Jackie Morris to say: “My first promise was to keep him safe, but, unfortunately, I was unable to protect him. He would make everyone feel wanted and let them know he was there if they needed a friend. Kasey was the best big brother.”
Whilst a statement read out on behalf of Millie Leather, who described Kasey as her ‘first love’, said: “I spent three weeks begging him to pull through and come home. I never dreamed in a million years that he would be taken away from us in such a violent way.
“The pain in his father’s eyes makes my heart break… His little sister was so close to Kasey, it was like they were twins. She struggles to smile anymore. She is confused, broken, angry and crying out for her big brother to come back to her. Her daily life is full of tears, and I have to watch her spirit break every day.”
