NatWest banking users have commented on X and outage reporting site DownDetector that they are experiencing problems with their mobile login, banking, and online banking
Thousands of people have been left unable to access their cash after NatWest’s banking app went down this morning.
App users have flooded the Down Detector outage reporting site with reports this morning stating they are struggling to access the high street banker’s main app. Dozens of people have also taken to social media to angrily complain they can’t see their accounts, with the banker’s support teams saying they are aware of an ongoing issue.
Some app users having issues this morning have reported receiving the following message: “We’re sorry, some kind of error has occurred when trying to establish a connection between your device and ourselves. Please close the app and try again.” Users who receive the message are asked to check their data and wifi strength, but many people won’t have had any luck with a stable connection, as NatWest has confirmed it is an app-wide issue.
Thousands of people have commented online on both social media and Down Detector, with the outage reporting site showing that 1,025 banking users have said they are experiencing problems. According to the site, the issues started at around 7.30am today, and are still ongoing.
One social media user taking to X, formerly Twitter, asked: “Can you sort out your app? It’s becoming annoying now.” Another added: “App not working… Get it sorted pronto. Also if down and has been for around 40 minutes why have you failed to update the website?”
The social media team said that, while they are aware of the issue and working on a solution “ASAP” there is currently “no timescale for a resolution”. They wrote: “We’re aware of the an issue and our technical teams are looking into this. There is no timescale for a resolution at this stage, though the team will be working to resolve this ASAP.”
The social team said: “We are aware that the App is down at the moment, the tech team are working on getting this back up and running ASAP, if you need access to the account you can login to Online Banking or you can call us on 03457 888 444.”
Another member of the team added: “If you need urgent access to your account you can try logging in to online banking on the website or calling the telephony team using the number of the back of your card.”
The Daily Mirror has contacted Natwest representatives for comment.
