A student and expecting mother was struggling to heat up her cold apartment, but found a quick, simple, and easy way to warm up her home without having to spend any more on bills
A life hack lover has shared how you can heat up your home instantly with spending extra money.
As temperatures continue to plunge while energy bills soar, many Brits are opting for throwing on a jumper to beat the chill – rather than keeping the heating on. However, there are a number of smart tricks which could help you warm up your home with adding an extra strain to the purse strings.
Mum-to-be and student Emily, who wants women to “conquer it all” in and out of the house, discovered how she can heat up her home instantly by five degrees with a simple, quick, and easy trick. In a video clip she shared on TikTok, she showed her thermostat at 66 degrees Fahrenheit and dubbed her home cold.
Experts at BOXT – the UK’s leading boiler installers – say the thermostat sweet spot is anything around 18-20 degrees Celsius or 64.5 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. They also urge homeowners not to crack up the heating to max when it’s cold outside, and recommend experimenting with different temperature settings to lower energy bills.
In her video, Emily then walked viewers through how she uses her oven as a heating tool – turning the oven off and opening the door within a span of two seconds. The hack helped the temperatures in her home raise to 71 degrees.
Emily said: “Tell me your apartment is cold, without telling me your apartment is cold. Here’s a life hack to heat up your house real quick in the winter.
“Or in our case in the winter that should be spring but it’s still winter because it keeps snowing. Just after cooking/baking. I’ll just open the oven door. Hopefully there are any harmful side effects to doing so besides the accidental grazing of the oven door with your leg, which could result in a painful bur.”
