Students who are having to share a kitchen when they head off to university might want to snap up my go-to hot and cold water dispenser – it’s now even got £50 off

Heading off to uni is one of the most exciting times in anyone’s life, but it can bring its own challenges, especially when you’re living away from home for the first time. Whether it’s your first ever term or you’re heading into your final year, managing to live with others can pose some tricky problems, especially when it comes to sharing living spaces.

A shared kitchen can often be the source of some tension, especially when it comes to making midnight coffees while you’re up studying, or trying to keep mess to a minimum. That’s why I found the Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis Hot Cold Water Dispenser is the perfect gadget to take with you for your new term living away from home.

How does the Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis Water Dispenser

Anyone who has moved to a different city knows that sometimes the tap water can taste…odd. Which is why I love that the Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis has a continuous water filter system which purifies water, removing TDS, PFOA, PFOS, chlorine, salt, sediment, lead, odours and more for water that tastes fresh and clean. There’s also a handy removable water jug, which you can use to fill up pots ready for boiling, or take to another room to top up your glass of water without having to go back to the kitchen.

The dispenser chills water down to 15 degrees, giving you fresh clean water at the touch of a button. I will say, for me personally I found the water wasn’t quite what I’d consider cold – it was more room temperature, so if you like your water bordering on freezing (guilty) then you may need to keep some ice on hand to bring the temperature down.

However the real gold star of the gadget is that it gives you boiling water in an instant. No more faffing on using energy whilst you boil the kettle or worrying about the noise it makes when you make your cuppa. Instead it gives you boiling water in an matter of seconds, so you can make a quick and quiet cup of tea or coffee with minimal fuss.

Although it’s handy to have in your shared kitchen space for everyone to use, you can also have the Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis Hot Cold Water Dispenser anywhere else in your house. It doesn’t need to be plumbed into anything, so you can pick it up and move it around at any given moment – all you need is a plug socket.

That means you can keep it on your desk or bedside table ready to make a morning brew the second you wake up, or can get yourself a fresh glass of water when you wake up after a big night out without even having to leave your room. The one downside is that it requires the water tank on the back to be filled regularly, and this can be quite heavy to carry from the tap to the dispenser if it’s far away.

However It’s easy and straightforward to use, with a simple LED display that lets you choose from different water volumes depending on your glass size and adjust the temperatures between 15 degrees and 95 degrees. It can take some playing around to get used to what volume of water you need for what cup or glass, and be wary of splashing if you’re using a smaller mug with boiling water.

All in all, this is a super handy gadget to have at home – or in your uni accommodation – to make life a little easier. And don’t forget you can save £50 on the Waterdrop Reverse Osmosis Hot Cold Water Dispenser with the code WDA2.
