A devastated mum who says her heart was ‘shattered into a million pieces’ on the day her son died six years ago this month believes ‘karma’ will eventually catch up with the killer

A heartbroken mum says she has “untold hate and anger” towards the “monster” who murdered her son six years ago this week.

Taylor Black, an 18-year-old university student, went to a birthday party but never came home. That’s because his life was tragically cut short by Nathan Costello, who stabbed him a total of 64 times — including 40 times to the head.

Speaking about the senseless killing of her eldest child, Lindsey Allison wrote on social media: “Six years ago today your beautiful kind heart stopped beating and mine just shattered into a million pieces.

“I’ll never understand why somebody so precious with the most beautiful heart would be taken so brutally by the most evil, vile absolute monster, there’s no words to even describe him and the hate and anger we carry for him is untold.

“But I believe in karma my beautiful boy and his day will come around if not in this life then definitely the next while you enjoy all heavens beautiful things.”

Taylor, a computer science student, had returned home to Stockton-on Tees, Durham, to see his mum and younger brother, Shae in February 2020.

He asked his mum whether she wanted to watch a film with him before remembering the birthday party.

However, the morning after, he went to the home of Costello, who he knew from martial arts training. Costello, who is in his 30s, plunged a knife into the chest of the younger man before repeatedly striking his skull.

The coward admitted to the murder in text messages — only to later claim he had no memory of it. He went on to be found guilty of murder and was sentenced to life with a minimum of 21 years.

During the trial, Lindsey suffered further tragedy, when she found the body of her younger brother, Niki, who took his own life after learning chilling details about his nephew’s death in court.

And paying tribute to her son on the anniversary of his death, she bravely wrote: “You were too good for this world. You were just so pure and loving and kind you definitely earned your spot in heaven — no doubt about that.

“There’s no day that goes by that you aren’t on my mind. I miss you so much. Some days the ache in my heart cripples me but I am okay.

“Son, I have your beautiful little brother to keep me going. You would be so proud of him, he misses you everyday too and talks about you often.

“Nana misses you so much as well but one day we will be together again of that I am sure. Just make sure you are at them golden gates waiting for me and show me around all your favourite places.”

Signing off the heartbreaking post, she said: “Give our Nik a big kiss from us. Tell him we love and miss him so much too. You are both safe up there together where nobody or nothing can ever hurt you again.

“It is not goodbye son — it is I will see you when I get there. Love you more than you could ever know, your broken hearted mam.”
