Danielle Broadway, 30, has lost 90lbs in 14 months after committing to small, sustainable changes with the help of the Simple app
A mother-of-three has shed 90lbs in 14 months after ditching daily energy drinks and embracing small, achievable lifestyle changes with support from the Simple app. For 30-year-old Danielle Broadway, juggling three children made life hectic and physically taxing.
She was also battling ongoing gut health problems, which eventually became overwhelming. “My main goal when starting out was just wanting to feel better. If I lost weight it would’ve been a huge bonus for me, but I just wanted to feel better in my gut,” Broadway says.
“What got me interested in intermittent fasting is my gut health has always been really bad, I always felt bloated, I would get sick from the most random foods that shouldn’t have been making me feel bad. I hated the way I felt on a day to day basis.”
Whilst investigating ways to improve her diet, she came across intermittent fasting and the Simple app, which is currently available at 60% off using the code REACH60. “I liked how user friendly it looked on the app store so I ended up giving it a shot and it introduced me to this community,” she says, reports Wales Online.
Simple is described as a clinically proven weight loss tool that has supported users in shedding over 18 million pounds globally without restrictive diets, calorie counting or eliminating essential food groups. Following a brief quiz, it creates a tailored plan featuring intermittent fasting tracking, flexible food logging through typing, voice or photo, daily exercise routines, the NutriScanner for understanding meal nutrition, and Avo, an AI wellness coach offering round-the-clock support.

The service currently provides a 2 for 1 offer, allowing subscribers to share their Simple premium plan with someone of their choosing at no extra cost. Broadway reports that the app’s design and features, which include a smartwatch tracker, enabled her to remain committed without disrupting her work or family commitments.
Whilst acknowledging the initial days proved most challenging, the Simple app provided recipe suggestions that suited her digestive system well. “I ended up dropping 42lbs in five months.
“And I changed nothing about my lifestyle, I ate better, I felt amazing, I had all this sustained energy,” she explains. She attributed her complete health transformation to Simple.
A pivotal moment for her involved abandoning energy drinks: “I knew I had to cut them out eventually because I did not want to drink those for the rest of my life. Now, I have all this energy, my skin has not been breaking out, I feel amazing.”
Intermittent fasting forms a central element of Simple, and as her habits became established, Broadway describes it as a ‘lifestyle change. ‘ “It’s not something that happened overnight for me,’ she explains. “It took many, many months in order for me to fully commit to the lifestyle and now it’s just part of my daily life.
It had a huge snowball effect into every aspect of my life. I learned how to do more things for myself, get into new hobbies, and I started taking really good care of myself.”
Simple also provides community backing via its Facebook group and its latest emotional support tool, Blinky, a virtual companion that responds to meal logging and promotes ongoing progress. The app’s exercise programmes also span a broad spectrum of activities, including yoga, Pilates, HIIT, walking and Tai Chi, whilst Avo, the AI wellness assistant, delivers tailored advice on meals, snacks and physical activity.
Broadway reveals that her current fitness regime involves one to two fifteen-minute workouts at home alongside hiking once or twice weekly. “My current fitness goal is to condition myself enough to hike the Appalachian trail portion in Virginia, which is just over 530 miles.”
Ultimately, she concludes: “If I had any advice for staying motivated with your goals, it’s to be kind to yourself. Celebrate the smallest victories, you are doing amazing things out there.”
Naturally, there are numerous other platforms available to tackle similar challenges. Take Noom, for instance – a weight management service that emphasises mindful consumption rather than restrictive meal plans.
This scientifically-backed platform provides extensive client support and promises to deliver ‘enjoyable’ tailored programmes. Costs vary according to the chosen package and individual requirements.
Then there’s MyFitnessPal – a calorie monitoring tool and BMI calculator engineered to assist users in achieving their goals whilst tracking nutritional consumption. It runs at approximately £19.99 monthly, though certain free features remain accessible through the application.
Boasting over 21 million downloads, a stellar 4.7-star App Store rating and Forbes recognition as 2025’s top application, Simple has earned glowing reviews from its users. One Trustpilot reviewer shared: “I’m happy with that phone app as it keeps track of ups and downs.
“Drink at least 2L of water to stay hydrated. Water helps take away the food cravings.”
A second user commented: “This app. It is very helpful to keep you motivated. Love it.”
Since fitness applications suit different individuals differently, one customer did dock a star, explaining: “I like the food scan feature, it really helps with food entry. I’m still navigating the app and learning how to use it.”
Another user shared: “I enjoy the coaching. Reminders of when, what and how to eat are very helpful.
“As I’m not a type to do regular exercise, I choose to exercise in other ways like water aerobics; walking while playing golf and line dancing. The program doesn’t seem to cover those other types of exercise.”
On the whole, the majority of users were satisfied. One more added: “This has been a great app for staying on track with my meal plan.”
