Marks and Spencer say it ‘captures the essence of the season’ – and many shoppers are loving it
M&S shoppers are raving about a perfume that could pass as something worth more than £200, but nobody would know it costs just £10. People have called this bargain scent a “divine” spray that lasts “for hours”.
The M&S Discover Winter Nights Eau de Toilette is available in 100ml bottles and is priced at £10. According to the website description: “This limited edition Winter Nights fragrance captures the essence of the season in a vibrant yet warming blend.
“Bright red berries bring a juicy freshness, softened by delicate jasmine and deepened with smooth amber for a rich, lasting base. Presented in a 100ml bottle, the festive fragrance is designed to feel uplifting and elegant, making it an ideal choice for party season dressing or as a special gift.”

‘I’ve tried over 100 perfumes and this is the best cosy scent I’ve found’
Among the reviews, a number of customers have compared the M&S fragrance to a far pricier alternative. One customer claimed: “Fabulous and on par with Baccarat Rouge, this is a must for all Rouge lovers.”
Another wrote: “This is a take on my absolute favourite scent, Baccarat Rouge. It might not be as long-lasting, but the smell is divine. A definite close at a fraction of the cost.”
One more put: “The smell is amazing and just like [Baccarat Rouge].” People could splash out just over £200 on a bottle of Baccarat Rouge from places like John Lewis, making the M&S alternative a bargain.
There are similar own-brand fragrances elsewhere that could pass as major designers. For example, shoppers have raved about the Artiscent Atelier range at Superdrug, comparing the £12 Patchouli Passion scent to the £82 Lancôme La Vie Est Belle. Also, the £12 Artiscent Cherry Noir passes as the £290 Tom Ford Lost Cherry, shoppers claimed.
There were more positive comments about the scent generally. One said: “Beautiful smelling perfume and great price would highly recommend.”
Another said: “Beautiful, I feel this could be unisex but it’s still stunning and it honestly lasts all day!” A third wrote: “Beautiful fragrance which lasts all day. I would definitely recommend this.”
But there was a small number of people who had issues with the perfume. One person claimed: “Smells cheap, even for a budget scent. I’ve had M&S perfumes before, and they smelled nice – this one didn’t.”
Another warned fellow shoppers: “The scent is lovely. However, the smell literally lasts no more than 10 minutes. I spray it on as I’m leaving home and by the time I get to my car, it’s disappeared.”
However, the majority of shoppers were pleased with the perfume. One more wrote: “Wanted a winter type fragrance and this hits the spot!” Another said: “It’s very light and smells of cherries! It lasted for about four or five hours and I would certainly purchase again.”
