The new store is relocated from a previous location and is one of more than 20 new or renewed stores M&S is launching across the UK

M&S has opened a brand-new flagship store in Bath measuring 83,000 sq ft and spanning across four floors.

There is a 14,000 sq ft fresh market-style foodhall on the ground floor, complete with a flower shop and new bakery and coffee counter.

Shoppers will find three floors of fashion, with collections including Autograph womenswear and heritage brand Jaeger in menswear. Click and collect and travel money are located on the first floor.

A brand-new 1,600 sq ft beauty hall also stocks third-party brands such as Estee Lauder, ESPA, Hello Sunday, Bare Minerals, ICONIC and Sam McKnight, alongside Clinique and M&S Apothecary and Discover fragrances.

On the top floor of the store, customers will find a curated homeware collection, including the popular M&S x Kelly Hoppen homeware edit.

The new Bath SouthGate store is relocated from M&S’ previous location on Stall Street and is one of more than 20 new or renewed stores M&S is launching across the UK in the second half of this financial year.

Natalie Jordan, Store Manager at Bath SouthGate, said: “We have a fantastic history in Bath, dating back to 1895 and it is brilliant to be investing in a brand-new flagship store in the city centre.

“Our focus is now delivering the trusted value and exceptional quality we’re known for – alongside a touch of that M&S magic. Our new showstopping store does just that and the response from customers has been so rewarding for the whole team.

“So, if you’re looking for the perfect outfit, doing your weekly food shop or craving our M&S coffee, we can’t wait to welcome you soon.”

Laurence Budden, Senior Asset Manager at British Land added: “We are delighted to welcome Marks and Spencer to SouthGate Bath; they are the perfect addition to our strong line‑up and further enhance the mix for our visitors.

“SouthGate’s prominent city centre location and strong transport links create a compelling offer, and with this the scheme is now fully let.

“This opening is a great way to start a transformational year for SouthGate, building on other recent openings, including Sunglass Hut, Zara and Rituals, with more exciting news to come.”

It comes after M&S revealed a wish list of 500 locations where it wants to open new stores, as it searches for new, bigger sites to double the size of its food business.

M&S is particularly looking for large sites that could stock the full range of M&S Food, growing the target size of its Food stores to an average of 18,000sq ft.
