Not everyone will be eligible, so check to see if you’ve been invited
Morrisons shoppers are being told to open their apps after the supermarket unveiled a new scheme that could unlock a substantial discount. The retailer is giving selected customers the opportunity to earn a 10% reward if they spend £250 before the end of June.
The offer is available through Morrisons’ More loyalty programme and runs until June 30. Customers who have been invited to participate simply need to scan their More Card each time they shop in-store, or ensure their card is linked to their Morrisons online account.
Spending is tracked automatically and can be monitored via the Morrisons More app, website or on receipts. Morrisons confirmed that shoppers can work towards the target through several smaller purchases rather than completing a single large shop.
The supermarket said: “You can shop as little and as often as you like to build up your total, this includes any shops you do both in-store and online as long as you scan your Morrisons More card with each transaction.” Online spending also counts towards the target, although Morrisons noted that purchases will be added to a customer’s running total up to 72 hours after an order has been delivered.
However, not every customer will be eligible. Morrisons confirmed the More Plus offer is exclusively available to selected customers, and those interested in participating should visit the homepage of the Morrisons More app or website to check if they’ve received an invitation. Shoppers who hit the £250 spending target will earn a reward equivalent to 10% of that total expenditure.
The voucher will then appear in the ‘My Offers’ section of their account within 72 hours of meeting the challenge, though it needs to be activated before use. The loyalty programme isn’t the only recent development unveiled by Morrisons.
The supermarket has also begun testing futuristic AI-powered shopping trolleys at its Riversway branch in Preston. The cutting-edge carts, called Caper Carts, come equipped with touchscreens, cameras, sensors and integrated scales that automatically recognise products as customers place them in their baskets.
Shoppers can weigh fruit and veg, monitor their spending in real time and connect the trolley to their Morrisons More account to access personalised deals while they browse. The innovation is already in use by several leading retailers in the US, but Morrisons will be the first supermarket to test the system in the UK.
