Natasha Reddington-Romanov, 55, was last seen walking from Trisha’s in Soho, London, towards Bateman Street between 1.45am and 2am on September 20

A woman has been found dead in the River Thames after going missing while on a night out in London.

Friends of Natasha Reddington-Romanov, 55, raised fears for her safety earlier this week after she was last seen leaving Trisha’s in Soho, London between 1.45am and 2am on September 20. She was due to work the following Monday, but didn’t show, sparking a city-wide panic for the popular Londoner.

Tonight, the Met confirmed it had found Natasha’s body near Vauxhall Bridge, around two miles south of bustling Soho. The Force said though her death was unexpected, it is not being treated as suspicious.

Before news of her tragic death, Natasha’s close friend Tracy Kawalik told Metro Natasha had spent the evening having dinner in China Town with the owner of the bar Trish and returned to the member’s club after.

“She left when the bar closed, around 1.45 to 2am,” she told Metro. “She walked towards Bateman street before we believe she turned back to get the bus, which she does all the time to go home.” She described her pal as “vivacious, outspoken and glamorous”.

Tracy explained that Natasha’s lifelong friends, who have known her for 40 years, had never seen her meet a stranger to go home with. She added that she “loves working”, and had never missed a day of work. Friends had been concerned about her safety because she was a transgender woman.

Before her body was found, Tracy added that there were no signs of her struggling with any particular stresses like work or money, and that she “didn’t show signs of depression”.

In a statement, the Met said today: “Officers conducting enquiries in relation to a missing person’s report have recovered a body. Officers believe that the body discovered is that of Natasha Reddington-Romanov, a 55-year-old woman that had been reported missing from Southwark.

“Natasha’s next of kin have been informed of this development. On Saturday, 21 September, officers were alerted to the discovery of a body in the Thames near Vauxhall Bridge.

“Work was undertaken to confirm the identify of this person. In the interim, Natasha disappearance was reported to police on Tuesday, 24 September and a missing person’s investigation was immediately launched.

“It was subsequently confirmed that the body recovered was that of Natasha’s. The death is being treated as unexpected, but not suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
