Meryl Streep’s Devil Wears Prada 2 makeup artist has shared some of the products he used to create her iconic Miranda Priestly makeup look, and it includes a £40 setting powder

Gird your loins, because The Devil Wears Prada 2 has hit cinema screens this weekend and Meryl Streep is back as the iconic Miranda Priestly. Meryl has relied on the same makeup artist both on screen and off to create her Miranda-esque beauty looks, with faithful makeup artist Donald McInnes responsible for her makeup in the film as well as putting her together for premieres and press tours.

Donald recently shared on Instagram that he’d almost exclusively used Charlotte Tilbury makeup and skincare for Meryl throughout, and whilst he has yet to share a full product breakdown from the movie set, he has shared what he used on her for recent public appearances. One product that was a standout was the Airbrush Flawless Finish powder in shades one and two, which is a great pick for anyone with mature skin.

The £40 Airbrush Flawless Finish is made with rose wax and almond oil which hydrate your skin so you don’t get that chalky, cakey finish that some powders leave. This means that rather than settling into fine lines and wrinkles and emphasising them, it smooths over the top of them and creates a flawless finish.

It’s also packed with light-reflecting ingredients which diffuse light as it hits the skin, creating a more airbrushed, lit from within effect, and the micro powders both smooth and blur skin to help mask fine lines. This also helps minimise shine and brighten up your skin, without looking too matte or chalky.

You can wear Airbrush Flawless Finish in a variety of ways. It can be worn on its own in place of foundation, or as an extra layer to help mattify shine from certain areas like your nose or forehead. It can also be used to lock in your makeup base with an all-over layer once you’ve finished your foundation.

Some other great powder picks for mature skin include the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder which is known for its weightless finish. This means it won’t settle into lines or wrinkles and shouldn’t crease as easily as other powders, and it’s translucent in colour so it will work on all skin tones.

If hydrating is the main thing you’re looking for, Laura Mercier’s Mini Translucent Loose Setting Powder Ultra Blur is another good option. It comes in a range of colours including green for redness correcting, pink to brighten, and deep and medium skin tones for general setting.

However, there’s no arguing with how flawless Meryl’s skin looks both on screen and off, so there must be some magic in the Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. Although you can’t see reviews on the Charlotte Tilbury website, the same powder has been praised on Cult Beauty , particularly for how well it works on mature skin.

One said: “It’s so silky smooth and the formula lasts throughout the day and doesn’t leave any harsh lines. It’s a great formula that doesn’t settle into fine lines but does blur them along with pores. It doesn’t transfer onto your clothing and packaging is so nice. The price point is kinda high but it’s a very high end product that suits mature skin perfectly. It’s very lightweight but yet a little goes a long way. I think I love this product and I will be trying it out in my shade next time I buy.”

Another agreed: “I’m in love with this powder. I think it settles on the skin so nicely and really helps to lock in the foundation in a way that looks natural. The level of pigmentation is perfect and it doesn’t get too dry or cakey compared to other powders.”

Some weren’t as keen, with one saying: “The packaging of this product is beautiful. It has a mirror inside. However, I am not sure if I noticed a difference in skin appearance when applied. It does help my other products like blush last longer through the day, but I didn’t see anything really on the skin.”
