Meghan Markle has released the first teaser for her brand new podcast ‘Confessions of a Female Founder’ with the first episode of the eight part series set to drop in just weeks
Meghan Markle has released the trailer for her brand new podcast – her first since she and Prince Harry parted ways with Spotify. The teaser for Confessions of a Female Founder, made with Lemonada Media, sees Meghan saying that it will give the “kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses”.
In the one-minute preview, released on March 25, the Duchess of Sussex says, “I’m Meghan, and this is Confessions of a Female Founder, a show where I chat with female entrepreneurs and friends about the sleepless nights, the lessons learned, and the laser focus that got them to where they are today.
“We’re diving into the highs — and the lows – and the kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses. And of course, we’re going to get some girl talk!”
When announcing the podcast earlier this month, Meghan described the venture as “candid conversations” with “amazing women” about the success and struggles of their businesses. She wrote on her Instagram account that she was “so excited” to share the news, describing recording the series as “absolutely eye-opening, inspiring…and fun!”
The former Suits actress added: “Because what’s the point if we can’t have some fun on this wild adventure?” She said the women had shared their “tips, tricks (and tumbles)” as well as “letting me pick their brains as I build out my own business, As ever”. The announcement came just a week after the duchess’ lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, which has already filmed a second season, faced savage criticism in reviews after premiering on Netflix.
The duchess’ former Archetypes podcast about feamle stereotypes in 2022 ran for just one series, and was part of the Sussexes’ previous multimillion pound deal with Spotify, which ended the year after. After the Archetypes podcast was scrapped by Spotify, an executive of the company branded The Duke and Duchess of Sussex “f**king grifters”. Bill Simmons, Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetisation at Spotify hit out at the pair in his own podcast last year.
He said: “The f***ing grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.“ The Spotify boss added: “I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
Meghan’s new podcast has been created as part of a deal Meghan signed last year with Lemonada Media, which said listeners would hear “unfiltered stories behind the successes of notable female founders”. It also said the series would also be “sneaking a peek behind the curtain of Meghan’s own entrepreneurial journey launching As ever”.
The first episode of it is due to drop on April 8, and its launch is set to clash with a major event for King Charles and Queen Camilla with it coming right in the middle of their upcoming trip to Italy. It was confirmed by Buckingham Palace last week that the King and Queen would be heading to both Rome and Ravenna from April 7 to April 10.
The historic tour, exclusively revealed earlier this year by The Mirror, will also see the couple visit the Vatican with a meeting with frail Pope Francis also on the cards due to his improving outlook after he left hospital yesterday. The trip will also see Charles and Camilla in Italy for their 20th wedding anniversary on April 9.
However, it is not the first time that projects by Meghan and Prince Harry have appeared to clash with major royal events. In 2022, the trailer for their explosive Netflix documentary was released when the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Boston for the Earthshot Prize.
Meanwhile, back in 2019, Meghan, who was still a working royal at the time, is said to have left Camilla “very upset” after photos of her were released as she gave the landmark speech. Meghan was said to have broken a pledge not to overshadow Camilla’s campaign on domestic violence by having the pictures of her private visit to the National Theatre be published the same day.
Meanwhile, on the royal trip to Italy, Charles will pass two milestones, becoming the first British monarch to visit the Papal Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, the resting place of St Paul since the reformation, and address both houses of Italy’s parliament. The King will hold audiences with Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the monarch and his wife will attend a black-tie state banquet at the Palazzo Quirinale, hosted by the president.
