Meghan Markle is said to be ‘terrified’ that Prince Harry will be ‘made a fool of’ by his brother Prince William, as he attempts to reconcile with the future King

As Prince Harry readies himself for a UK visit, he is reportedly eager to mend fences with his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, especially in light of Kate’s recent cancer diagnosis. Yet, an insider reports that Meghan Markle, his wife, is wary about Harry’s attempt to reach out to his Royal family and fears he might rue the decision later on.

“Meghan knows she is facing a losing battle when it comes to Harry reaching out to Kate and William to try and sort through their differences, but she thinks he’s making a big mistake. She obviously feels sympathy for Kate and what she’s going through, but in her mind, it doesn’t change things,” the source divulged.

Only last month, Kate, the Princess of Wales, sent out a heartfelt video message to the public, announcing that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy for an unnamed type of cancer discovery, post-abdominal surgery earlier this year.

As the Prince and Princess of Wales support each other, with the company of their children; George, 10, Charlotte, eight, and Louis, five, during Kate’s healing phase, Harry is said to be prompted to extend an olive branch so as to stand by the couple. King Charles’ cancer revelation earlier this year had similarly led Harry to dash to the UK to see his father, though his stay lasted less than 24 hours.

Royal pundit Richard Fitzwilliams recently suggested that the health issues plaguing the Royal family could potentially thaw the icy relationship between Harry and William. He told OK!: “With Catherine and the King’s illness – that is an enormous game changer even when there are deep family rifts.”

Yet, it seems Meghan is still bruised from past experiences, according to a source.

The source said: “She wants her to make a full recovery and for the family to all be ok but four years on from leaving and she’s still upset by it all and can never fully forgive the royals for what they put her and Harry through and have never apologised.”

Harry and Meghan waved goodbye to their Royal roles in January 2020, uprooting to California to raise Archie, now four, and two year old Lilibet, far away from the confines of Royal life. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been candid about their trials and tribulations with other Royal family members, particularly expressed in Harry’s forthcoming 2023 book, Spare.

The memoir features Harry’s account of sibling rivalry, referring to his older brother William as his “beloved brother and arch-nemesis”, while detailing a physical altercation they had in 2019 over alleged comments made by William against Meghan, branding her “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive”. It also brings to light friction caused by difference in Meghan and Kates American and British sensibilities.

The once dubbed ‘fab four’, comprising the two Royal brothers and their spouses, has seen better days. Harry, who once affectionately referred to Kate as the “sister I’ve never had and always wanted” in his tell-all memoir, is now facing a chasm within the family.

An insider revealed: “It would never bother Meghan if she didn’t see William and Kate again and sadly knows that there is no relationship between her children and George, Charlotte and Louis. She would’ve loved that to happen but the Waleses have made it clear they don’t want it. But she knows deep down that Harry wants to fix the relationship and the Kate news has made him more determined to try and do it. But she thinks Harry is being naive and that he still can’t trust William. She’s terrified he’ll be made a fool of again and William will use him. She knows she makes better decisions than Harry as she won’t let her emotions rule her, but she fears she’s losing control over this situation.”

Meghan, who became Harry’s bride in a fairytale wedding at St George’s Chapel in 2018, reportedly harbours concerns that attempting to mend fences might lead to further pain rather than healing.

“She feels William has made it clear that he doesn’t want a reconciliation and hasn’t made any effort, he could have quite easily made time for Harry when he’s been in the UK,” the source alleged. The source added: “This isn’t all on Harry but because of the current situation, there’s no way William will offer an olive branch. Meghan just doesn’t want to see him hurt again as it’s taken him years to finally get over the fallout.”
